5. Setup

5.1 Powering the Device

The DAB-42WHITE radio can be powered by either the included AC adapter or by batteries.

Using the AC Adapter:

  1. Insert the small plug of the AC adapter into the DC 5V Power Input Jack on the rear of the radio.
  2. Plug the AC adapter into a standard 230V wall outlet.

Using Batteries:

  1. Open the battery compartment cover on the rear of the radio.
  2. Insert 4 x AA size batteries (not included) into the compartment, ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as indicated.
  3. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

Note: When the AC adapter is connected, battery power is automatically disconnected.

5.2 Antenna

Extend the telescopic antenna fully for optimal reception, especially for FM and DAB+ signals. Adjust its position for the best signal quality.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Power On/Off

Press the Power/Mode button to turn the radio on or off.

6.2 Mode Selection (DAB+/FM)

When the radio is on, press the Power/Mode button repeatedly to switch between DAB+ and FM radio modes.

6.3 DAB+ Radio Operation

  1. Switch to DAB+ mode.
  2. Press the Scan button to perform an automatic scan for available DAB+ stations. The radio will display the scanning progress.
  3. Once scanning is complete, use the Up/Tune+ and Down/Tune- buttons to navigate through the list of found stations.
  4. Press the Source/Select button to select and listen to a station.

Storing DAB+ Presets:

The radio supports up to 10 preset stations.

  1. Tune to the desired DAB+ station.
  2. Press and hold the Preset button until "Preset Store" appears on the display.
  3. Use the Up/Tune+ and Down/Tune- buttons to select a preset number (1-10).
  4. Press the Source/Select button to confirm and save the station.

Recalling DAB+ Presets:

  1. Press the Preset button (short press) to enter preset recall mode.
  2. Use the Up/Tune+ and Down/Tune- buttons to select the desired preset number.
  3. Press the Source/Select button to tune to the preset station.

6.4 FM Radio Operation

  1. Switch to FM mode.
  2. Press the Scan button to perform an automatic scan for available FM stations. The radio will scan and stop at the next strong station.
  3. Alternatively, use the Up/Tune+ and Down/Tune- buttons for manual tuning in small increments. Press and hold these buttons for faster tuning.

Storing FM Presets:

The radio supports up to 10 preset stations.

  1. Tune to the desired FM station.
  2. Press and hold the Preset button until "Preset Store" appears on the display.
  3. Use the Up/Tune+ and Down/Tune- buttons to select a preset number (1-10).
  4. Press the Source/Select button to confirm and save the station.

Recalling FM Presets:

  1. Press the Preset button (short press) to enter preset recall mode.
  2. Use the Up/Tune+ and Down/Tune- buttons to select the desired preset number.

6.5 Alarm Clock Function

The radio features an alarm clock that can wake you up with a radio station (DAB+ or FM) or a melody.

Setting the Time:

The time is usually automatically set via DAB+ signal. If not, or for manual adjustment:

  1. Press the Menu button.
  2. Use Up/Tune+ or Down/Tune- to navigate to "Time/Date" or "System Settings" and press Source/Select.
  3. Follow the on-screen prompts to set the time and date manually.

Setting the Alarm:

  1. Press the Menu button.
  2. Use Up/Tune+ or Down/Tune- to navigate to "Alarm" and press Source/Select.
  3. Select "Alarm 1" or "Alarm 2" (if available).
  4. Set the alarm time, duration, source (DAB, FM, Melody), and volume using the Up/Tune+, Down/Tune-, and Source/Select buttons.
  5. Ensure the alarm is set to "On".

Snooze/Stop Alarm:

When the alarm sounds, press any button (except Power) to snooze for a short period. Press the Power/Mode button to stop the alarm.

6.6 Volume Control

The volume is typically controlled by dedicated volume buttons or by the Up/Tune+ and Down/Tune- buttons when not in a menu or tuning mode. Refer to the display for volume level indication.

6.7 Headphone Connection

Connect standard 3.5mm headphones to the Headphone Output Jack on the rear of the unit for private listening. The internal speaker will be muted automatically when headphones are connected.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the unit with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Battery Replacement: If using batteries, replace all four AA batteries when the low battery indicator appears on the display or when performance degrades. Ensure correct polarity.
  • Storage: If storing the radio for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.
