Radiolink PRM-01 Battery Monitor Module User Manual

Model: PRM-01

Brand: Radiolink

1. Product Overview

The Radiolink PRM-01 is a compact and lightweight battery monitor module designed to provide real-time voltage telemetry for your aircraft. It helps pilots monitor battery voltage directly on their compatible Radiolink transmitter display, enabling timely landing and preventing battery over-discharge.

Key Features:

  • Easy Connectivity: Connects directly to the receiver for telemetry display on the transmitter, requiring no additional flight controller or complex parameter settings.
  • Real-time Voltage Monitoring: Provides live battery voltage readings to prevent overworking the battery.
  • Compact Design: With dimensions of 1.3" x 0.87" x 0.37" and a weight of only 0.25oz, the PRM-01 adds minimal burden to your drone or aircraft.
  • Wide Compatibility: Compatible with 1-cell to 6-cell batteries (3.7V to 25.2V).
  • Transmitter Compatibility: Works with Radiolink AT10II, AT10, AT9S Pro, AT9S, and AT9 transmitters.
  • Receiver Compatibility: Easily connects with R12DS and R9DS receivers (also compatible with older versions like R10DS, R10D, R9D).

Installation Steps:

  1. Connect ESC to Receiver: Connect the airplane's Electronic Speed Controller (ESC) to the appropriate channel (e.g., channel 3) of your R9DS or R12DS receiver.
  2. Power the ESC: Connect the battery to the ESC to power the system.
  3. Connect PRM-01 to Receiver: Connect one end of the PRM-01 module's cable to the telemetry port (e.g., EXT port) of your R9DS or R12DS receiver.
  4. Connect PRM-01 to Battery: Connect the other end of the PRM-01 module's cable to the balance port of your airplane's battery. Ensure correct polarity.
  5. Power On Transmitter: Turn on your compatible Radiolink transmitter (e.g., AT9S Pro, AT10).
  6. Verify Connection: Check the transmitter display for the external voltage (EXT) reading. If connected correctly, the battery voltage will be displayed.

3. Operating Instructions

Once installed, the PRM-01 module operates automatically, transmitting real-time battery voltage data to your Radiolink transmitter.

Monitoring Battery Voltage:

  • The external voltage (EXT) reading on your transmitter's display will show the current voltage of your aircraft's main battery.
  • The receiver voltage (RX) reading will show the voltage supplied to the receiver.
  • Pay close attention to the EXT voltage during flight. Consult your battery manufacturer's specifications for safe minimum voltage levels to avoid over-discharging.

Low Voltage Alarm:

The PRM-01 module, in conjunction with your Radiolink transmitter, can provide low voltage alarms. Refer to your specific transmitter's user manual for instructions on how to set up custom low voltage alarm thresholds. When the battery voltage drops below the set threshold, the transmitter will alert you, indicating it's time to land the aircraft.

4. Maintenance

The Radiolink PRM-01 module requires minimal maintenance. To ensure optimal performance and longevity:

  • Keep the module clean and free from dust, dirt, and moisture.
  • Avoid exposing the module to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight for prolonged periods.
  • Ensure all connections are secure before each use to prevent intermittent readings or disconnections during flight.
  • Store the module in a dry, cool place when not in use.

5. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your PRM-01 module, consider the following troubleshooting steps:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No EXT voltage displayed on transmitter.Incorrect connection of PRM-01 to receiver or battery.Verify all connections according to the setup diagrams (Figures 3 & 4). Ensure the PRM-01 is plugged into the correct telemetry port on the receiver and the balance port of the battery.
Incorrect voltage reading.Loose connection or damaged cable.Check all cables for damage and ensure they are securely plugged in. Test with a known good battery.
Module not powering on (no LED indicator). No power from battery or receiver.Ensure the battery is charged and connected correctly. Verify the receiver is powered on.
Transmitter not recognizing telemetry data.Transmitter settings or firmware issue.Refer to your transmitter's user manual for telemetry setup. Ensure the transmitter firmware is up to date.
