4. Setup

4.1. Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the monitor.
  2. Slide the battery cover off.
  3. Insert four (4) AAA batteries, ensuring the correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
  4. Replace the battery cover securely.

4.2. Cuff Attachment

  1. Connect the air tube from the cuff securely into the air jack on the side of the blood pressure monitor.
  2. Ensure the connection is firm to prevent air leakage during measurement.

4.3. Applying the Cuff

Proper cuff application is crucial for accurate readings. The monitor features a cuff fit detection system to assist you.

  1. Sit comfortably with your back supported and feet flat on the floor.
  2. Place the cuff on your bare upper arm, approximately 1-2 cm above the elbow joint. The air tube should run down the inside of your arm.
  3. Ensure the index line on the cuff aligns with the center of your arm.
  4. Wrap the cuff snugly around your arm, but not too tightly. You should be able to insert two fingers between the cuff and your arm.
  5. Rest your arm on a table so the cuff is at heart level.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Setting Date and Time

Before your first measurement, it is recommended to set the correct date and time for accurate record-keeping.

  1. With the device off, press and hold the 'M' (Memory) button for a few seconds until the year starts flashing.
  2. Use the '+' or '-' buttons to adjust the year. Press 'M' to confirm and move to the next setting (month, day, hour, minute).
  3. Repeat the process for each setting until all are correct. The device will automatically save the settings and turn off.

5.2. Taking a Measurement

  1. Ensure the cuff is correctly applied and you are in a relaxed, seated position.
  2. Press the 'START/STOP' button to begin the measurement. The cuff will automatically inflate.
  3. Remain still and silent during the measurement. The monitor will detect excessive body movement and alert you if necessary.
  4. Once the measurement is complete, the cuff will deflate, and your Systolic, Diastolic, and Pulse readings will be displayed.
  5. The measurement will automatically be stored in the selected user's memory.
  6. Press 'START/STOP' again to turn off the device, or it will automatically shut down after a period of inactivity.

5.3. Understanding the Risk Indicator

The monitor features a colored scale on the right side of the display to help you interpret your blood pressure readings according to WHO (World Health Organization) guidelines:

  • Green: Optimal blood pressure.
  • Yellow: Normal blood pressure.
  • Orange: High-normal blood pressure.
  • Red: Hypertension (high blood pressure).

Consult your doctor for interpretation of your readings and for any health concerns.

5.4. Memory Function and User Selection

The device can store readings for two users. To select a user or review past measurements:

  1. With the device off, press the 'M' (Memory) button.
  2. The display will show the last measurement for the current user. Press 'M' repeatedly to cycle through past readings.
  3. To switch between User 1 and User 2, press the '+' button while viewing memory. The user icon will change.
  4. To view the average of the last three measurements, continue pressing 'M' until 'AVG' is displayed.

5.5. Cardiac Arrhythmia Detection

If an irregular heartbeat is detected during measurement, a specific symbol (often a heart with wavy lines) will appear on the display. If this symbol appears frequently, consult your doctor for further evaluation.

6. Maintenance and Care

  • Cleaning: Wipe the monitor and cuff with a soft, dry cloth. If necessary, use a slightly damp cloth with mild soap, then wipe dry. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the device in water.
  • Storage: Store the device in its carrying bag in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and humidity.
  • Battery Replacement: When the low battery indicator appears on the display, replace all four AAA batteries simultaneously with new ones. Do not mix old and new batteries.
  • Cuff Care: Do not wash the cuff. If it becomes soiled, wipe it gently with a damp cloth.
  • Avoid Dropping: Protect the device from strong impacts or dropping.
