2. Product Overview
The BLACK+DECKER BD22MWSA Dehumidifier is designed to efficiently remove excess moisture from medium to large spaces and basements, covering up to 1500 square feet (2012 DOE Standards) or 280 square feet (2019 DOE Standards). It features an Energy Star certification for energy efficiency.

3. Setup and Installation
Follow these steps for proper setup of your dehumidifier:
- Unpacking: Carefully remove the dehumidifier from its packaging. Retain packaging materials for future storage or transport.
- Placement: Place the unit on a firm, level floor in the area where dehumidification is desired. Ensure there is at least 8 inches of air space on all sides for proper air circulation. The unit is portable and includes 4 casters/rollers for easy mobility.
- Power Connection: Plug the 3-prong power cord into a grounded 115V~/60Hz electrical outlet.
- Water Tank: The unit comes with a detachable 3L/6.34-pint removable water tank. Ensure it is properly seated before operation.
- Continuous Drainage (Optional): For continuous operation without emptying the tank, attach a standard garden hose (not included) to the continuous gravity feed drain port located at the rear of the unit. The drain hose should be 1.64 ft. long with a 0.31 in. diameter. Ensure the hose is sloped downwards to allow for gravity drainage.

4. Operating Instructions
Your BLACK+DECKER dehumidifier features a top-mounted electronic control panel for easy operation.

- Power On/Off: Press the Power button to turn the unit on or off.
- Setting Humidity: Use the up and down arrows on the control panel to set your desired humidity level. The adjustable humidistat allows settings from 35% to 85% relative humidity. The LED digital display will show the current and target humidity.
- Fan Speed: Select between Low and High fan speeds using the Fan Speed button.
- Timer Function: Utilize the 24-hour on/off timer to program the unit to start or stop at specific times.
- Auto Defrost & Auto Restart: The unit is equipped with auto defrost to prevent ice build-up on the coils and auto restart functionality, which allows it to resume operation at previous settings after a power outage.
- Full Bucket Indicator: An indicator light and audible alert system will notify you when the water bucket is full. The dehumidifier will automatically shut off to prevent overflow.

5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your dehumidifier.
- Emptying the Water Tank: When the full bucket indicator light illuminates and an audible alert sounds, carefully remove the water tank from the front of the unit and empty its contents. Reinsert the tank securely.
- Cleaning the Air Filter: The dehumidifier features a removable, washable mesh filter. Periodically remove the filter from the rear of the unit and clean it with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and allow it to air dry completely before reinserting.

- Unit Cleaning: Wipe the exterior of the unit with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Storage: If storing the unit for an extended period, ensure the water tank is empty and the filter is clean and dry. Store in a cool, dry place.
