Setup
Initial Setup
- Remove all packaging materials and protective tapes from the printer.
- Connect the power cord to the printer and a wall outlet.
- Power on the printer using the power button.

Ink Cartridge Installation
- Open the ink cartridge access door. The print carriage will move to the center.
- Remove the protective tape from each cartridge.
- Insert each cartridge into its corresponding slot, ensuring it clicks into place. Match the color labels.
- Close the ink cartridge access door.

Paper Loading
- Pull out the input tray.
- Adjust the paper guides to fit the paper size.
- Load a stack of paper into the tray, print-side down.
- Push the input tray back into the printer.

Software and Connectivity
- Download the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device from hp.com/go/learnaboutsupplies.
- Follow the on-screen instructions in the app to connect your printer to your Wi-Fi network or via Ethernet.

Operating the Printer
Printing
You can print documents and photos from your computer, smartphone, or tablet. The printer supports automatic two-sided (duplex) printing to save paper.

Copying
Place your document on the scanner glass or in the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) for multiple pages. Use the control panel to select copy options like quantity, color/black and white, and size.
Scanning
Scan documents or photos to your computer, email, or cloud services directly from the printer's control panel or via the HP Smart app.
Faxing
The printer includes fax functionality. Connect a phone line to the RJ-11 fax port on the back of the printer and follow the instructions on the control panel to send and receive faxes.

Maintenance
Replacing Ink Cartridges
When an ink cartridge runs low or is empty, the printer's control panel will display a notification. To replace, open the ink cartridge access door, press the old cartridge to release it, and insert a new Original HP cartridge into the correct slot. Loading Paper

Connectivity Problems
- Printer not connecting to Wi-Fi: Ensure your printer is within range of your router. Restart both the printer and your Wi-Fi router. Check the Wi-Fi status on the printer's control panel.
- Cannot print from mobile device: Verify that your mobile device and printer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Ensure the HP Smart app is installed and updated.
