Introduction
Thank you for choosing the Aquarian Steel-Frame Above-Ground Pool Kit. This manual provides essential instructions for the safe assembly, operation, and maintenance of your new pool. Please read all instructions carefully before beginning installation and retain this manual for future reference.
Important Safety Information
WARNING: Failure to follow these instructions can result in serious injury or death. Always supervise children and non-swimmers. Never dive or jump into the pool. Ensure proper fencing and safety barriers are in place according to local regulations. Keep all electrical components away from water and ensure they are properly grounded. Consult a qualified electrician for electrical installations.
What's Included
Your Aquarian Steel-Frame Above-Ground Pool Kit includes the following components:
- 18' x 52" Round Steel-Frame Pool Structure
- Overlap Liner
- A-Frame Ladder
- ABS Thru-Wall Skimmer with return fitting and vacuum plate
- 12-inch Sand Filter and Pump System (1/3 HP, 1200 GPH capacity)
- Leaf Skimmer Net

Setup Instructions
1. Site Preparation
- Select a level, firm area for your pool. The ground must be completely flat and free of rocks, roots, or debris.
- Ensure adequate drainage away from the pool area.
- Verify that the chosen location is clear of overhead power lines and underground utilities.
2. Frame Assembly
Assemble the steel frame according to the detailed instructions provided in the separate assembly guide. The frame consists of 7-inch steel top rails and 6-inch steel vertical posts, connected by 2-piece injection-molded high-impact plastic connectors.
3. Liner Installation
- Carefully unfold the overlap liner inside the assembled pool frame.
- Smooth out any wrinkles on the pool floor.
- Secure the overlap liner over the top edge of the pool wall, ensuring even distribution.
4. Skimmer Installation
Install the ABS thru-wall skimmer into the designated opening in the pool wall. Ensure all gaskets and seals are correctly positioned to prevent leaks. Connect the return fitting as instructed.

5. Pump and Filter Connection
- Position the sand filter and pump on a solid, level surface near the pool.
- Connect the hoses from the skimmer and return fitting to the appropriate ports on the filter and pump system.
- Fill the sand filter with the recommended amount of filter sand (not included).
- Ensure all connections are tight to prevent leaks.

6. Ladder Assembly
Assemble the A-frame ladder according to its specific instructions. Place the ladder securely at the pool's edge, ensuring it is stable before use. The ladder is designed for pools 48"-52" tall.

Operating Instructions
1. Filling the Pool
Begin filling the pool with water. As the water level rises, smooth out any remaining wrinkles in the liner. Stop filling when the water reaches the middle of the skimmer opening.
2. Filter System Operation
- Before starting the pump, ensure the filter is filled with water and all valves are open.
- Prime the pump if necessary, following the pump manufacturer's instructions.
- Turn on the pump. The filter system should run for several hours daily to maintain water clarity. Consult a pool professional for recommended run times based on pool size and usage.
3. Skimmer Use
The thru-wall skimmer automatically collects debris from the water surface. Regularly empty the skimmer basket to ensure efficient operation. The included leaf skimmer net can be used for manual removal of larger debris.
Maintenance
1. Water Chemistry
Regularly test and balance your pool water chemistry. Key parameters include pH, chlorine, alkalinity, and calcium hardness. Use appropriate pool chemicals as directed by their manufacturers to maintain safe and clean water.
2. Cleaning
- Use the leaf skimmer net to remove leaves and other floating debris daily.
- Brush the pool walls and floor regularly to prevent algae growth and remove dirt.
- Vacuum the pool floor as needed using a pool vacuum (sold separately or as part of a cleaning kit).
3. Filter Maintenance
- Backwash the sand filter when the pressure gauge indicates a rise of 8-10 PSI above its clean operating pressure.
- Periodically clean the sand filter media according to the filter manufacturer's instructions.
4. Winterization
Before freezing temperatures arrive, properly winterize your pool to prevent damage. This typically involves lowering the water level, draining equipment, and covering the pool. Consult a local pool professional for specific winterization procedures in your region.
Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your Aquarian pool kit.

| Cloudy water | Improper water chemistry, insufficient filtration, high bather load. | Test and adjust water chemistry. Run filter longer. Backwash filter. Consider a clarifier. |
| Algae growth | Low sanitizer levels, high phosphates, poor circulation. | Shock the pool. Brush walls. Test and balance water. Ensure adequate filtration. |
| Ladder feels unstable | Improper assembly, uneven ground, loose connections. | Re-check all ladder assembly steps. Ensure the ground beneath the ladder is firm and level. Tighten all bolts and connections. |
