4. Setup

Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
  2. Slide or open the cover according to the markings.
  3. Insert three AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

Powering On/Off

  • To power on: Press the DIST button briefly. The laser will activate.
  • To power off: Press and hold the %/OFF button for a few seconds. The device will also automatically power off after 150 seconds of inactivity.

5. Operating Instructions

Basic Distance Measurement

  1. Turn on the device.
  2. Point the laser at the target.
  3. Press the DIST button once. The measurement will be displayed on the screen.

Continuous Measurement (Tracking)

This mode allows for dynamic measurement, displaying the maximum and minimum distances as you move the device.

  1. Press and hold the DIST button for approximately 2 seconds. The device will enter continuous measurement mode.
  2. Move the device slowly towards or away from the target. The display will show real-time measurements, along with maximum and minimum values.
  3. Press DIST again to exit continuous measurement.

Unit Conversion

To change the measurement unit (e.g., meters, feet, inches):

  • Press the Save/Unit Switch button briefly to cycle through available units (M, Ft, In, Ft+In).

Reference Point Setting

The device can measure from its front or rear edge.

  • Press the Reference Point button to toggle between the front and rear reference points. An icon on the display will indicate the active reference point.

Area, Volume, and Pythagorean Measurement

The LOMVUM E40 supports various calculation modes.

  1. Press the MENU button to cycle through the measurement modes:
    • Single Distance Measurement: (Default mode)
    • Area Measurement: Measure length, then width. The device calculates and displays the area.
    • Volume Measurement: Measure length, width, then height. The device calculates and displays the volume.
    • Pythagorean Measurement: Follow the on-screen prompts to measure the required sides of a right-angled triangle for indirect height or distance calculation.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions (flashing lines) to take the necessary measurements for the selected mode.

Addition and Subtraction

You can add or subtract measurements directly on the device.

  1. Take a measurement.
  2. Press the + button for addition or - button for subtraction.
  3. Take the next measurement. The result will be added or subtracted from the previous one.
  4. Repeat as needed.

Electronic Angle Sensor

The integrated angle sensor assists in finding horizontal directions and performing angle-related measurements.

6. Maintenance

Storage
