Introduction
The HP E23 G4 FHD Monitor is designed to enhance your productivity and viewing comfort. Featuring optimized ergonomics and Full HD resolution, this monitor integrates HP Eye Ease, a built-in, always-on blue light filter that maintains color accuracy without requiring On-Screen Display (OSD) adjustments. Its 4-way adjustability, 3-sided micro-edge, and flicker-free 23-inch diagonal screen provide a personalized and expansive viewing experience. Setup
1. Assembling the Monitor Stand
- Carefully remove the monitor and stand components from the packaging.
- Attach the stand neck to the monitor panel. Ensure it clicks securely into place.
- Attach the base to the stand neck and tighten the thumbscrew at the bottom of the base to secure it.
2. Connecting Cables
Connect the necessary cables to the monitor's rear ports. Refer to Figure 2 for port locations.

- Power Cable: Connect the AC power cord to the monitor's power input and then to a wall outlet.
- Video Cable: Connect either the DisplayPort 1.2 cable or the HDMI cable from your computer's video output to the corresponding input on the monitor.
- USB Cable: Connect the USB Type-B to A cable from your computer's USB port to the upstream USB port on the monitor to enable the monitor's USB hub functionality.
Operating the Monitor
1. Power On/Off
Press the power button located on the bottom right bezel of the monitor to turn it on or off. The power indicator light will illuminate when the monitor is active.
2. Adjusting Display Settings (OSD)
The On-Screen Display (OSD) menu allows you to customize various monitor settings. Use the buttons on the bottom right bezel to navigate the OSD menu:
- Press the Menu button to open the OSD.
- Use the navigation buttons to scroll through options.
- Press the Select button to confirm a selection.
- Common settings include Brightness, Contrast, Color Control, Input Selection, and Picture Mode.
3. HP Eye Ease
The HP Eye Ease feature is a built-in, always-on blue light filter designed to reduce eye strain without affecting color accuracy. No OSD adjustments are required to activate this feature; it is always active.
4. Ergonomic Adjustments
The HP E23 G4 monitor offers 4-way adjustability to help you find your optimal viewing position:
- Height Adjustment: Gently push or pull the monitor panel up or down.
- Tilt Adjustment: Tilt the monitor panel forward or backward to adjust the vertical viewing angle.
- Swivel Adjustment: Rotate the monitor panel left or right on its base.
- Pivot Adjustment: Rotate the monitor panel 90 degrees to switch between landscape and portrait orientations. This is particularly useful for document viewing or coding.
Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your HP E23 G4 monitor, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Cleaning the Screen: Use a soft, lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water or a non-abrasive screen cleaner. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
- Cleaning the Casing: Wipe the monitor casing with a soft, dry cloth.
- Ventilation: Ensure the ventilation openings on the monitor are not blocked to prevent overheating.
- Power Off When Not in Use: Turn off the monitor when not in use for extended periods to save energy and prolong its lifespan.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your monitor, try the following troubleshooting steps:
- No Image on Screen:
- Ensure the power cable is securely connected to both the monitor and the power outlet.
- Verify that the video cable (DisplayPort or HDMI) is firmly connected to both the monitor and your computer.
- Check if the correct input source is selected in the monitor's OSD menu.
- Flickering or Distorted Image:
- Ensure the video cable is not loose or damaged. Try a different cable if possible.
- Adjust the display resolution and refresh rate on your computer to match the monitor's recommended settings (1920 x 1080 at 60Hz).
- No USB Functionality:
- Ensure the USB Type-B to A upstream cable is connected from the monitor to your computer.
- Check your computer's device manager for any USB driver issues.
- Monitor Not Adjusting:
- Ensure no obstructions are preventing the stand from moving freely.
- Apply gentle, firm pressure when adjusting height or tilt.
