4. Setup and Installation
Important: Installation should only be performed by a qualified electrician. Ensure power is disconnected at the circuit breaker before beginning installation.
4.1 Site Selection
- Choose a location that is dry, well-ventilated, and protected from direct sunlight and extreme weather conditions if possible.
- Ensure the mounting surface is structurally sound and can support the weight of the charger (approximately 17 pounds).
- The charger can be installed indoors or outdoors.
- Ensure the 20 ft. cable can comfortably reach the vehicle's charging port.
4.2 Mounting the Charger
- Use the provided installation template to mark the drilling locations on the wall.
- Drill pilot holes according to the template.
- Secure the mounting bracket (if separate) or the charger directly to the wall using the supplied mounting hardware. Ensure it is level and securely fastened.

4.3 Electrical Connection (NEMA 6-50 Plug)
- The charger comes equipped with a NEMA 6-50 plug. Ensure you have a dedicated 208/240V, 50A circuit with a NEMA 6-50 receptacle installed by a qualified electrician.
- Plug the charger's NEMA 6-50 plug into the dedicated receptacle.
- Verify the circuit breaker for the receptacle is in the OFF position before plugging in, then switch it to the ON position after connection.

4.4 Wi-Fi Setup and App Connection
The VersiCharge™ is Wi-Fi enabled for remote access and smart features. Refer to the separate Siemens VersiCharge App Guide for detailed instructions on connecting your charger to your home Wi-Fi network and setting up the mobile application. The app allows for:
- Remote monitoring of charging status.
- Controlling energy usage.
- Scheduling delayed and planned charging sessions.
5. Operating Instructions
The Siemens VersiCharge™ EV charger is designed for straightforward operation.
5.1 Starting a Charging Session
- Ensure the charger is powered on and the indicator lights are active.
- Take the J1772 connector from its holster.
- Insert the J1772 connector firmly into your electric vehicle's charging port. For Tesla vehicles, use the appropriate Tesla J1772 adapter.
- The charger will communicate with the vehicle, and charging will begin automatically. The indicator lights on the charger will change to reflect the charging status.

5.2 Stopping a Charging Session
- Most vehicles allow you to stop charging from within the vehicle's infotainment system or by pressing a button near the charging port.
- Alternatively, you can stop charging via the Siemens VersiCharge mobile app.
- Once charging has stopped, press the release button on the J1772 connector and carefully remove it from the vehicle's charging port.
- Return the J1772 connector to its holster on the charger unit.
5.3 Indicator Lights
The charger features indicator lights on its front panel to communicate its status. Refer to the table below for common light patterns and their meanings:

- Storage: When not in use, always return the J1772 connector to its holster to protect it from dirt, moisture, and physical damage.
