Setup Instructions

Before beginning any training session, ensure all components are present and in good condition. This trainer is designed to be used with a compatible trainer drill (sold separately).

  1. Prepare the Training Site: Secure your anatomical training model (e.g., bone replica) on a stable surface.
  2. Attach the Needle to the Drill: Carefully insert the EZ-IO 25mm 15-Gauge Trainer Intraosseous Needle into the chuck of your compatible trainer drill. Ensure it is securely fastened.

Operating Instructions

Follow these steps for effective training simulations:

  1. Simulated Insertion: With the needle attached to the drill, position the needle tip at the desired insertion site on the training model. Activate the drill to simulate the intraosseous insertion process.
  2. Remove Drill: Once the simulated insertion is complete, carefully detach the trainer drill from the needle. The needle should remain in the training model.

  4. Remove Needle Stylet: Remove the stylet from the trainer needle, simulating the preparation for fluid administration.

  6. Connect Extension Set: Attach the EZ-Connect Extension Set to the hub of the trainer needle. This simulates connecting the line for fluid or medication delivery.

  8. Simulated Fluid Administration: Practice connecting and securing simulated fluid lines to the extension set.
  9. Needle Removal: After the training scenario, carefully remove the trainer needle from the training model.
  10. Sharps Disposal: Dispose of the trainer needle in the NeedleVise 1-Port Sharps Block provided, or an appropriate sharps container, even though it is for training purposes only.

Maintenance and Storage

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and effectiveness of your trainer components.

  • Cleaning: After each use, wipe down the reusable components (e.g., extension set, sharps block) with a damp cloth and mild disinfectant. Ensure they are completely dry before storage.
  • Inspection: Regularly inspect the trainer needle and extension set for any signs of wear, damage, or degradation. Replace components as necessary.
  • Storage: Store all components in a clean, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Keep out of reach of children.
