Introduction
This manual provides detailed instructions for the assembly, operation, and maintenance of your EACONN 80mm Refractor Telescope. Please read this manual thoroughly before using your telescope to ensure proper function and longevity of the product. This telescope is designed for astronomical observation and terrestrial viewing, suitable for beginners and enthusiasts.
The EACONN 80mm Refractor Telescope features an 80mm aperture and a 600mm focal length, providing clear and bright images. It comes equipped with essential accessories for an enhanced viewing experience.
Safety Information
- NEVER look directly at the sun through the telescope or its finder scope without a professionally made solar filter. Permanent and irreversible eye damage may result.
- Do not leave the telescope unsupervised, especially when children are present.
- Handle optical components with care to avoid scratches or damage.
- Ensure the tripod is stable on a level surface before use.

Setup and Assembly
- Set up the Tripod:
Unfold the tripod legs and extend them to a desired height. Ensure the tripod is stable on a flat surface. Attach the accessory tray to the center brace of the tripod.

- Attach the Optical Tube:
Mount the telescope optical tube onto the altazimuth mount of the tripod. Secure it firmly using the provided screws or clamps. Ensure the tube is balanced.
- Install the Finder Scope:
Slide the finder scope into its bracket on the main telescope tube and tighten the retaining screws. The finder scope helps in locating objects before viewing them through the main telescope.
- Insert the Eyepiece:
Loosen the thumbscrew on the focuser. Insert the desired eyepiece (K20mm for lower magnification, K9mm for higher magnification) into the focuser and tighten the thumbscrew to secure it.

- Attach the Mobile Phone Adapter (Optional):
If you wish to use your smartphone for photography, attach the mobile phone adapter to the eyepiece. The adapter is designed to fit both K20mm and K9mm eyepieces. Secure your smartphone in the adapter.
Operating Instructions
1. Aligning the Finder Scope
Before observing, the finder scope must be aligned with the main telescope. This is best done during daylight hours.
- Point the main telescope at a distant, easily identifiable object (e.g., a treetop, a street sign).
- Center the object in the main telescope's eyepiece.
- Look through the finder scope and adjust its alignment screws until the same object is centered in the finder scope's crosshairs.
2. Focusing
Once an object is located, turn the focuser knob slowly until the image is sharp and clear. Fine-tune the focus as needed, especially when changing eyepieces.
3. Observing Celestial Objects
- Start with the K20mm eyepiece (lower magnification) to locate and center objects.
- Once centered, you can switch to the K9mm eyepiece for higher magnification and more detailed views.
- Use the rough adjustment and positioning gimbal to smoothly track celestial objects as they move across the sky.

4. Terrestrial Viewing
The telescope can also be used for terrestrial viewing (e.g., bird watching, landscape observation). For upright images, a diagonal prism is typically used. Ensure your setup provides a correctly oriented image for terrestrial use.
Maintenance and Care
- Cleaning Optics: Use a soft, lint-free cloth specifically designed for optical lenses. Gently wipe the lens surfaces. For stubborn smudges, use a small amount of optical cleaning fluid on the cloth, not directly on the lens.
- Storage: When not in use, store the telescope and its accessories in the provided carrying backpack in a dry, dust-free environment. Keep dust caps on the optical tube and eyepieces.
- Handling: Avoid touching optical surfaces with bare hands. Always hold the telescope by its non-optical components.
- Environmental Protection: Do not expose the telescope to extreme temperatures or sudden temperature changes, which can cause condensation.

Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Image is blurry or out of focus. | Focuser not adjusted correctly. | Slowly turn the focuser knob until the image is sharp. |
| Cannot find objects. | Finder scope not aligned with the main telescope. | Align the finder scope during daylight hours as described in the "Operating Instructions" section. |
| Image is dim or dark. | Light pollution; incorrect eyepiece used; dirty optics. | Move to a darker location; use a lower magnification eyepiece (K20mm); clean the lenses carefully. |
| Image appears upside down or reversed. | This is normal for astronomical telescopes. | For terrestrial viewing, a diagonal prism is needed to correct the image orientation. |
