General Guide

Your Casio W-219H watch features four buttons and a digital display. Understanding these components is essential for operation.

Button Functions

  • MODE Button (Bottom Left): Cycles through the watch's various modes: Timekeeping, Stopwatch, and Alarm.
  • START/STOP Button (Top Left): Used to start and stop the stopwatch, and to adjust settings in setting modes.
  • LIGHT Button (Bottom Right): Activates the LED backlight for illumination.
  • SPLIT/RESET Button (Top Right): Used for split timing in stopwatch mode and to reset values in setting modes.

Display Elements

The digital display shows time, date, and other indicators depending on the current mode.

  • Time Display: Shows hours, minutes, and seconds. Can be set to 12-hour or 24-hour format.

Setup

Setting the Time and Date

  1. In Timekeeping Mode, press the MODE button three times to enter the Time Setting Mode. The seconds digits will flash, indicating they are ready for adjustment.
  2. Press the SPLIT/RESET button to reset the seconds to 00.
  3. Press the START/STOP button to move the flashing selection to the hour digits.
  4. Use the SPLIT/RESET button to increase the hour. Hold down to scroll rapidly.
  5. Press the START/STOP button to move the flashing selection to the minute digits.
  6. Use the SPLIT/RESET button to increase the minute.
  7. Continue pressing the START/STOP button to cycle through year, month, and day settings, adjusting each with the SPLIT/RESET button.
  8. To switch between 12-hour and 24-hour format, press the LIGHT button while the hour or minute digits are flashing.
  9. Once all settings are correct, press the MODE button to exit the Time Setting Mode and return to Timekeeping Mode.

Operating Modes

Timekeeping Mode

This is the default mode, displaying the current time (hours, minutes, seconds) and date (month, day, day of week). You can switch between 12-hour and 24-hour formats during time setting as described in the Setup section.

Stopwatch Mode (1/100 Second Chronograph)

The stopwatch measures elapsed time up to 23 hours, 59 minutes, 59.99 seconds.

  1. From Timekeeping Mode, press the MODE button once to enter Stopwatch Mode. The display will show "00'00"00".
  2. Press the START/STOP button to start the stopwatch.
  3. Press the START/STOP button again to stop the stopwatch.
  4. To resume timing, press the START/STOP button.
  5. To reset the stopwatch to "00'00"00", press the SPLIT/RESET button while the stopwatch is stopped.
  6. Split Time: While the stopwatch is running, press the SPLIT/RESET button to display a split time. The stopwatch continues to run internally. Press SPLIT/RESET again to return to normal elapsed time display.

Alarm Mode

The watch features a daily alarm and an hourly time signal.

  1. From Timekeeping Mode, press the MODE button twice to enter Alarm Mode. The alarm time will be displayed.
  2. Press the START/STOP button to select the hour or minute digits for setting.
  3. Use the SPLIT/RESET button to adjust the selected digits.
  4. Press the MODE button to exit Alarm Setting Mode.
  5. To turn the alarm ON/OFF, press the SPLIT/RESET button while in Alarm Mode (without flashing digits). An alarm indicator will appear on the display when the alarm is ON.
  6. To turn the Hourly Time Signal ON/OFF, press the START/STOP button while in Alarm Mode (without flashing digits). An hourly time signal indicator will appear when it is ON.

LED Light

Press the LIGHT button (bottom right) to illuminate the display for a few seconds. This feature is useful in low-light conditions.

Maintenance

Water Resistance (50M WR)

Your Casio W-219H watch is rated for 50-meter water resistance. This means it is suitable for everyday use and can withstand splashes, rain, and brief immersion in water. It is generally suitable for short periods of recreational swimming. However, it is not recommended for diving or prolonged underwater activities. Avoid operating buttons while the watch is wet or submerged to prevent water intrusion.

Battery Life

  • Alarm does not sound: Check if the alarm indicator is displayed in Alarm Mode. If not, activate the alarm as described in the Operating Modes section. Ensure the volume is not obstructed.
  • Watch stops functioning after water exposure: If buttons were operated underwater or the watch was exposed to water beyond its 50M WR rating, water may have entered the case. Seek professional service immediately.
  • Buttons are unresponsive: Ensure the watch is not in a frozen state due to extreme temperatures. If the issue persists, a battery replacement or professional inspection may be required.
