4. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps for proper installation of your water chiller:

  1. Prepare the Chiller: Place the chiller unit on a stable, level surface near your aquarium or hydroponic system. Ensure there is at least 6 inches of clear space around all sides for adequate ventilation.

  2. Attach Water Nozzles: Secure the two water nozzles to the chiller's inlet and outlet ports. Ensure the sealing rings are correctly placed to prevent leaks. Tighten the fixing nuts.

Video 4.1: Demonstrates the correct water pipe and pump connection for the Poafamx 160L Chiller, showing how to attach nozzles, tubing, and clamps.

  3. Connect Tubing: Cut the provided tubing to the desired lengths for the inlet and outlet. Attach one end of each tube to the chiller's nozzles and secure them with the metal clamps.
  4. Install Submersible Pump: Attach the remaining end of the inlet tube to the submersible pump. Place the submersible pump completely inside your aquarium or hydroponic reservoir.
  5. Connect Outlet Tubing: Place the remaining end of the outlet tube into your aquarium or hydroponic reservoir, ensuring it is positioned to return cooled water effectively.
  6. Power Connection: Connect the chiller's power cord to a suitable electrical outlet (110V).

5. Operating Instructions

The chiller features a digital display and control buttons for easy temperature management.

  1. Power On/Off: Press the power button () to turn the unit on or off.
  2. Set Target Temperature:
    • Press the Set button once. The display will show the current target temperature.
    • Use the (Up) and (Down) buttons to adjust the target temperature to your desired value (e.g., 75°F).
    • Press Set again to confirm and save the setting.
  3. Set Temperature Difference (F1): This setting determines the temperature range within which the chiller operates.
    • Long press the Set button until "F1" appears on the display.
    • Press Set again to enter the F1 setting.
    • Use the (Up) and (Down) buttons to adjust the temperature difference (e.g., 5°F). This means if your target is 75°F and F1 is 5°F, the chiller will activate when the water reaches 80°F and cool until it reaches 75°F.
    • Press Set again to confirm and save the setting.
Three steps for simple temperature setting on the Poafamx Aquarium Chiller: 1. Set the target temperature (e.g., 75F). 2. Set the F1 code (temperature difference, e.g., 5F). 3. Finish setting, explaining the chiller will cool between 75-80F.

    Figure 5.1: Temperature setting steps.

Video 5.1: Instructions on how to set the target temperature for the Poafamx Aquarium Chiller, including setting the temperature difference (F1).

  4. Cooling Operation: Once the settings are confirmed, the chiller will automatically begin cooling when the water temperature exceeds the set target temperature plus the temperature difference (e.g., 80°F if target is 75°F and F1 is 5°F). It will stop cooling once the target temperature is reached.

Video 5.2: Illustrates the cooling process of the Poafamx Aquarium Chiller, showing water being drawn in warm and returned cooled to protect aquatic life from heat.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your chiller.

  • Clean Air Vents: Periodically clean the air vents on the chiller to prevent dust buildup, which can hinder heat dissipation.
  • Inspect Tubing and Connections: Regularly check all tubing and connections for kinks, blockages, or leaks.
  • Clean Submersible Pump: Clean the submersible pump regularly to remove any debris or algae that may affect its performance.
  • Water Quality: Maintain good water quality in your aquarium or hydroponic system to prevent buildup within the chiller's internal components.

7. Troubleshooting
