1. Introduction

The INKBIRDPLUS INK-IFT01 is a non-contact infrared thermometer designed for accurate surface temperature measurements across a wide range of applications. It features a 12:1 distance-to-spot ratio, adjustable emissivity, and a clear backlit LCD display for convenient use. 2. Safety Information

Please read all safety warnings carefully before using the device.

  • This infrared thermometer is intended for measuring surface temperatures only. It is not designed for use on humans or animals, and readings obtained from such applications will be inaccurate.
  • Do not attempt to measure the internal temperature of any object with this device.
  • Never irradiate human eyes directly or indirectly with the laser beam at any time. Direct exposure can cause eye damage.
  • Keep the device away from children.
  • Do not use the device in environments with explosive gases, vapor, or dust.
  • Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures, humidity, or direct sunlight for prolonged periods.

  1. Laser Hole: Emits the targeting laser.
  2. Infrared Sensor: Detects infrared radiation for temperature measurement.
  3. LCD Screen: Displays temperature readings, battery status, and other indicators.
  4. ℃/℉/Down Button: Used to switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit, and for navigating menus.
  5. Function Button (MODE): Accesses settings and modes.
  6. Laser/Up Button: Toggles the laser on/off and for navigating menus.
  7. Trigger: Activates the measurement.
  8. Battery Compartment: Houses the 9V battery.

4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation

The INKBIRDPLUS INK-IFT01 requires one 9V 6F22 battery for operation. A new battery can provide approximately 12 months of continuous use.

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the handle of the thermometer.
  2. Gently pull the cover downwards to open the compartment.
  3. Insert a 9V battery, ensuring the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals align correctly with the markings inside the compartment.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover until it clicks securely into place.

5. Operation

5.1 Taking a Measurement

  1. Point the thermometer at the target surface.
  2. Press and hold the trigger to activate the laser and begin live temperature readings. The laser dot indicates the center of the measurement area.
  3. Release the trigger to hold the current temperature reading on the display. The reading will remain on the screen for a short period before the device automatically powers off to save energy.

5.2 Distance to Spot Ratio (D:S)

The INK-IFT01 has a Distance to Spot Ratio of 12:1. This means that at a distance of 12 units from the target, the measurement spot diameter will be 1 unit. For example, if you are 12 inches away from the target, the measurement area will be 1 inch in diameter. To ensure accurate readings, make sure the target area is larger than the spot size.

5.3 Switching Temperature Units (℃/℉)

To switch between Celsius (℃) and Fahrenheit (℉), press the dedicated ℃/℉/Down Button located below the LCD screen. The display will update to show the selected unit.

5.4 Adjustable Emissivity

Emissivity is a measure of an object's ability to emit infrared energy. Different materials have different emissivities. The INK-IFT01 allows you to adjust the emissivity from 0.1 to 1.0 to improve measurement accuracy for various surfaces. To adjust emissivity, press the MODE button to enter the emissivity setting, then use the Up and Down buttons to change the value.

5.5 Multiple Applications

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning

  • To clean the device, use a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • For the lens, use a soft cloth or cotton swab with a small amount of rubbing alcohol. Allow the lens to dry completely before use.
  • Ensure no liquid enters the device casing.

6.2 Storage

  • When not in use, store the thermometer in a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • If storing for an extended period, remove the battery to prevent leakage and damage to the device.
