3. Product Features
The SVBONY SV605 microscope incorporates several features for enhanced viewing and ease of use:
3.1. Optical System and Magnification
- Binocular Head: The 45-degree inclined binocular head reduces eye and neck strain during prolonged viewing. It can rotate 360 degrees for comfortable observation or sharing with others.
- Adjustable Ocular Distance: The ocular distance is adjustable from 55mm to 75mm to suit individual users.
- Eyepieces: Includes wide-field 10X and 20X eyepieces.
- Objective Lenses: Three fully achromatic objective lenses (4X, 10X, 40X) provide clear and sharp images. The 40X objective lens is spring-loaded to protect slides from damage.
- Total Magnification: Combined with the built-in 2X lens, the microscope offers magnifications of 80X, 160X, 200X, 400X, 800X, and 1600X.

3.2. Illumination System
- Dual LED Illumination: Built-in adjustable LED upper (reflected) and lower (transmitted) illumination sources can be used simultaneously or independently.
- 6-Color Filter Disc: Improves the quality of magnified images and can be used with unstained slides.
- Dual Power Supply: Operates via power cord or batteries, allowing for outdoor use.

3.3. Mechanical Stage and Focusing
- Two-Layer Mechanical Stage: Provides precise X-Y axis movement for accurate specimen positioning without touching the slide.
- Coaxial Coarse and Fine Focus: Dual focus knobs allow for detailed viewing and easy adjustment, suitable for beginners.

4. Setup
- Unpacking: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Retain the packaging for future storage or transport.
- Placement: Place the microscope on a stable, level surface away from direct sunlight, dust, and vibrations.
- Power Connection: Connect the power adapter to the microscope and a suitable power outlet. Alternatively, insert batteries for portable use.
- Eyepiece Installation: Insert the desired eyepieces (10X or 20X) into the binocular head. Adjust the ocular distance by moving the eyepieces closer or further apart until you see a single, clear field of view.
- Objective Lens Selection: Rotate the revolving nosepiece to select the 4X objective lens. This is the lowest magnification and is ideal for initial specimen placement and focusing.
- Stage Adjustment: Use the coarse focus knob to lower the mechanical stage to its lowest position.

5. Operating Instructions
- Placing the Specimen: Place a prepared slide onto the mechanical stage, securing it with the stage clips. Use the X-Y axis knobs to center the specimen under the 4X objective lens.
- Adjusting Illumination: Turn on the LED illumination. Use the brightness adjustment knob to set the desired light intensity. Choose between upper (reflected) or lower (transmitted) illumination, or both, depending on your specimen type (opaque or translucent).
- Focusing:
- While looking through the eyepieces, slowly turn the coarse focus knob to raise the stage until the specimen comes into rough focus.
- Use the fine focus knob to achieve a sharp, clear image.
- Changing Magnification: Once focused at 4X, rotate the revolving nosepiece to a higher objective lens (10X or 40X). Re-adjust focus using only the fine focus knob. The microscope is parfocal, meaning minimal refocusing is needed when changing objectives.
- Using the Filter Disc: Rotate the 6-color filter disc located below the stage to select an appropriate color filter. This can enhance contrast for various specimens.
- Adjusting Binocular Head: Adjust the interpupillary distance (ocular distance) and diopter settings on the eyepieces for comfortable viewing. The binocular head can be rotated 360 degrees.

6. Maintenance
- Cleaning Lenses: Use a soft, lint-free cloth and lens cleaning solution specifically designed for optical instruments. Avoid touching lens surfaces with bare hands.
- Cleaning Body: Wipe the microscope body with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Storage: Always cover the microscope with the provided dust cover when not in use. Store in a dry, cool place to prevent mold growth on lenses.
- Moving Caliper Replacement: If the moving caliper on the mechanical stage needs replacement, follow the steps in the video below.

7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No illumination | Power adapter not connected, batteries drained, light switch off, brightness knob at minimum. | Check power connection, replace batteries, turn on light switch, adjust brightness knob. |
| Image blurry or out of focus | Incorrect focusing, objective lens not fully clicked into place, dirty lenses, slide upside down. | Use coarse and fine focus knobs, rotate nosepiece until objective clicks, clean lenses, ensure slide is correctly oriented. |
| Dark spots in field of view | Dust on eyepiece, objective lens, or slide. | Clean eyepieces, objective lenses, and slide. Rotate eyepiece to determine if dust moves with it. |
| Cannot move specimen with mechanical stage | Slide not properly secured, X-Y axis knobs stuck. | Ensure slide is under stage clips. Check for obstructions around X-Y axis knobs. |
