4. Setup

4.1 Placement

The placement of your subwoofer significantly impacts its performance. Experiment with different locations to find the best sound for your room. Generally, placing the subwoofer in a corner or along a wall can enhance bass output. Avoid placing it directly against a wall or in a cabinet without adequate ventilation.

4.2 Connections

The PL-300 offers versatile connectivity options. Ensure the subwoofer is unplugged from the power outlet before making any connections.

• RCA Input: For connecting to the LFE (Low-Frequency Effects) output of your A/V receiver or pre-amplifier. Use a single RCA cable for this connection.
• Speaker Level Inputs: For connecting to the speaker outputs of your amplifier if your receiver does not have a dedicated subwoofer output. Connect the left and right speaker wires from your amplifier to the corresponding inputs on the subwoofer.
• Power Connection: Once all audio connections are made, connect the supplied power cord to the subwoofer's power inlet and then to a suitable wall outlet.

5. Operating Your Subwoofer

5.1 Controls

The rear panel of the PL-300 features several controls to fine-tune its performance:

• Volume: Adjusts the overall output level of the subwoofer. Start with a low setting and gradually increase until the bass blends seamlessly with your main speakers.
• Phase (0°/180°): This switch helps to align the subwoofer's output with your main speakers. Experiment with both settings to find the one that produces the most coherent and impactful bass.
• Crossover Frequency: Sets the upper frequency limit for the subwoofer. Frequencies above this setting will be rolled off. Adjust this based on the low-frequency capabilities of your main speakers. A common starting point is 80Hz.
• Crossover Power (Auto/On/Off):
  • Auto: The subwoofer will automatically turn on when an audio signal is detected and enter standby mode after a period of inactivity.
  • On: The subwoofer remains continuously powered on.
  • Off: The subwoofer is powered off.

5.2 Bass Boost Feature

The PL-300 includes a unique BASS Boost feature that allows for enhanced low-frequency extension down to 15Hz. To activate this feature, insert the included port plug into the center port of the subwoofer and ensure the 'BASS Boost' switch on the rear panel is engaged. For maximum output without the deepest extension, select 'MAX OUTPUT' and remove the port plug.

6. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your PL-300 subwoofer, follow these maintenance guidelines:

• Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the cabinet. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents.
• Ventilation: Ensure that the ventilation openings on the rear panel are not obstructed. Proper airflow prevents overheating.
• Placement: Avoid placing the subwoofer in direct sunlight or near heat sources.
• Power: If the subwoofer will not be used for an extended period, it is advisable to unplug it from the power outlet.
