3. Setup and Assembly

3.1 Attaching the Hose and Wand

  1. Insert the flexible hose into the suction inlet on the main canister unit until it clicks securely into place.
  2. Attach the telescopic extension wand to the handle end of the flexible hose.
  3. Connect the desired cleaning attachment (floor nozzle, crevice tool, small brush, or upholstery tool) to the end of the extension wand.

3.2 Power Cord Management

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your vacuum cleaner.

5.1 Emptying the Dust Bin

Empty the dust bin when the 'MAX' fill line is reached or after each use to maintain suction power.

  1. Ensure the vacuum is unplugged.
  2. Press the dust bin release button and lift the dust bin away from the main unit.
  3. Position the dust bin over a trash receptacle. Press the bottom release button to open the lid and empty contents.
  4. Close the bottom lid securely and reattach the dust bin to the vacuum unit until it clicks.

5.2 Cleaning and Replacing Filters

The BLACK+DECKER BDXCAV217G uses a multi-cyclonic system with an Anti-Allergen HEPA filter and a foam filter. Both are washable for low maintenance costs.

  1. Ensure the vacuum is unplugged.
  2. Locate the filter compartment cover (as shown in Image 5.1) and open it.
  3. Carefully remove the HEPA filter and the foam filter.
  4. Rinse both filters under cool running water until the water runs clear. Do not use detergent.
  5. Allow filters to air dry completely for at least 24 hours before reinserting. Do not use a dryer or other heating device.
  6. Once completely dry, reinsert the foam filter first, followed by the HEPA filter, and close the compartment cover securely.
