3. Setup and Installation

The MASKO® Automatic Compressed Air Hose Reel is delivered pre-assembled and ready for immediate use after mounting.

3.1 Wall Mounting

  1. Choose a suitable location on a solid wall or ceiling that can support the weight of the hose reel and withstand the forces of pulling the hose.
  2. Position the removable wall mount bracket at the desired height and mark the drilling points.
  3. Drill holes using an appropriate drill bit for the provided expansion bolts.
  4. Insert the expansion bolts into the drilled holes.
  5. Securely attach the wall mount bracket to the wall using the expansion bolts.
  6. Slide the hose reel onto the mounted bracket. Ensure it clicks securely into place.

The hose reel can swivel up to 180° on its wall mount, providing flexible access to your workspace.

3.2 Connecting to Air Compressor

Connect the input hose of the reel to your compressed air compressor using the provided hose connector and plug-in nipple. Ensure all connections are tight to prevent air leaks.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Extending the Hose

To extend the hose, simply pull it out to the desired length. The hose will automatically lock into place after every half turn. You will hear a clicking sound as it locks. This allows you to work without the hose retracting.

4.2 Retracting the Hose

To retract the hose, pull it gently once more until the locking mechanism disengages. The hose will then automatically and smoothly retract into the casing. Guide the hose during retraction to prevent kinks or tangles.

4.3 Adjustable Hose Brake (End Stop)

The hose reel features an adjustable hose brake, also known as an end stop. This allows you to set the desired length of hose that remains outside the casing when fully retracted. To adjust, loosen the hose brake, slide it to the new position, and tighten it securely.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your MASKO® Automatic Compressed Air Hose Reel.

  • Cleaning: Periodically wipe down the plastic casing with a damp cloth to remove dust and dirt. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Hose Inspection: Regularly inspect the hose for any signs of wear, cracks, or damage. A damaged hose can lead to air leaks and reduced performance. Replace the hose if significant wear is observed.
  • UV Resistance: The casing is UV-resistant, protecting the hose from sun exposure and wear. However, storing the unit in a shaded area when not in use can further extend its lifespan.
  • Connections: Check all air connections periodically for tightness to prevent leaks.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your hose reel, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Hose does not retract automatically.Hose is still locked; hose is kinked or tangled; debris in mechanism.Pull the hose gently further out to disengage the lock. Check the hose for kinks or obstructions. Ensure the hose brake is not preventing retraction.
Air leaks from connections.Loose connections; damaged seals.Tighten all connections. Inspect O-rings and seals for damage and replace if necessary.
Hose is difficult to pull out or retract.Hose is tangled inside the casing; internal mechanism issue.Ensure the hose is not tangled. If the issue persists, contact customer support.
