4. Setup

4.1 Unpacking and Placement

  1. Carefully remove all components from the packaging.
  2. Place the main unit and speakers on a stable, flat surface. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit.
  3. Position the speakers equidistant from the main unit for optimal stereo sound.

4.2 Connecting Speakers

Connect the speaker wires from each speaker to the corresponding speaker terminals on the rear of the main unit. Ensure correct polarity (red to red, black to black).

4.3 Power Connection

  1. Connect the AC power cord to the AC IN socket on the main unit.
  2. Plug the other end of the power cord into a wall outlet.

4.4 FM Antenna Setup

Connect the supplied FM antenna to the FM ANTENNA jack on the rear of the main unit. Extend the antenna fully and adjust its position for best FM reception.

5.1 Power On/Off

  • Press the POWER button on the main unit or remote control to turn the system on or off.

5.2 Source Selection

  • Press the SOURCE button on the main unit or remote control repeatedly to cycle through available sources: CD, FM, Bluetooth, USB, Audio In.

5.3 Bluetooth Pairing

  1. Select the Bluetooth source. The display will show "PAIRING".
  2. On your Bluetooth device, enable Bluetooth and search for "PHILIPS M4205" (or similar model name).
  3. Select the system from your device's list to pair. Once connected, the display will show "CONNECTED".

5.4 CD Playback

  1. Select the CD source.
  2. Press the EJECT button to open the CD tray.
  3. Place a CD (audio CD or MP3 CD) with the label side up into the tray.
  4. Press the EJECT button again to close the tray. Playback will begin automatically.
  5. Use PLAY/PAUSE, STOP, REWIND, and FAST FORWARD buttons for control.

5.5 FM Radio Operation

  1. Select the FM source.
  2. Press and hold the SCAN button (on remote) or PLAY/PAUSE button (on unit) to auto-scan and store available stations.
  3. Use the PRESET +/- buttons (on remote) or REWIND/FAST FORWARD buttons (on unit) to navigate through stored presets.

5.6 USB Playback

  1. Insert a USB flash drive into the USB port.
  2. Select the USB source. The system will automatically detect and play compatible audio files.

5.7 Audio In (AUX)

  1. Connect an external audio device (e.g., smartphone, MP3 player) to the AUDIO IN jack using a 3.5mm audio cable (not supplied).
  2. Select the AUDIO IN source.
  3. Control playback from your external device.

5.8 Remote Control Usage

The remote control provides full functionality for the stereo system. Ensure batteries are correctly inserted. Point the remote control towards the main unit's sensor.

5.9 Digital Sound Control (DSC)

  • Press the DSC button on the remote control repeatedly to select a preset equalizer setting (e.g., Jazz, Rock, Pop, Classic, Flat) that best suits your music genre.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the unit and speakers. Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents.
  • CD Care: Handle CDs by their edges. Clean dirty CDs with a soft, lint-free cloth, wiping from the center outwards.
