This manual provides comprehensive instructions for the safe and efficient operation of your SENSTREE Digital Temperature Controller.

1. Introduction

The SENSTREE Digital Temperature Controller is designed for precise temperature management in various environments. It features a large LCD screen, dual relay output for simultaneous heating and cooling control, and a high-accuracy silicone temperature sensor. This device is suitable for applications such as home wine/beer brewing, aquariums, greenhouses, seedling heat mats, and controlling temperatures in refrigerators or freezers.

2. Safety Information

  • Do not expose the thermostat or probe to water.
  • Ensure the device is plugged into a standard U.S. 110V outlet.
  • Max output load: 1100W@110V, max current: 10A. Do not overload.
  • If the thermostat delivers power to a heating/cooling device for more than 5 consecutive hours without reaching the desired temperature, it indicates a potential issue with the device or environment.

3. Product Overview

The SENSTREE Digital Temperature Controller (Model ZJ-DTC102-1) consists of a main control unit with a digital display, a temperature sensing probe, and a power outlet strip with clearly labeled heating and cooling receptacles.

5.2 Switching Between Fahrenheit and Celsius

The thermostat defaults to Fahrenheit (°F). An indicator light on the display will show the active unit (°F or °C).

  • To switch to Celsius (°C): Press and hold the DOWN button for 3 seconds.
  • To switch back to Fahrenheit (°F): Press and hold the UP button for 3 seconds.

Video: Demonstrates how to switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius by pressing and holding the UP or DOWN buttons.

5.3 Placing the Temperature Probe

The temperature probe is made of silicone and is waterproof. Place the probe in the environment where temperature monitoring is required. It comes with a suction cup for easy placement.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Programming Desired Temperature

To set your desired temperature:

  1. Press and hold the SET button until the display starts blinking.
  2. Use the UP and DOWN buttons to adjust the desired temperature value. The control range is -40°C to 120°C (-40°F to 248°F).
  3. Press the SET button again to confirm and save the setting.

Video: Shows the process of programming the desired temperature on the controller.

6.2 Connecting Heating and Cooling Devices

The controller features two outlets: one for heating and one for cooling. Plug your heating device (e.g., space heater, heat mat) into the HEATING outlet and your cooling device (e.g., fan, refrigerator) into the COOLING outlet.

6.3 Viewing Current and Set Temperatures

The main display shows the current temperature measured by the probe. Briefly press the SET button to view the programmed desired temperature.

Video: Demonstrates how to view the current and desired set temperatures on the display.

6.4 Understanding the 3-Degree Buffer Zone

The thermostat is designed with a 3-degree buffer zone. This means that if the set temperature is 60°F, the heating/cooling device will activate when the temperature deviates by 3 degrees from the set point, preventing frequent on/off cycling and extending device lifespan.

Video: Explains the 3-degree buffer zone feature of the thermostat, which prevents rapid cycling of connected devices.

7. Maintenance

Keep the device clean and free from dust. Regularly inspect the temperature probe and cables for any signs of damage. Ensure the probe is securely connected to the main unit. Do not attempt to open or repair the device yourself; contact customer support for assistance.

8. Troubleshooting

8.1 Error Codes

  • E1: Temperature below 32°F (0°C).
  • E2: Temperature above 108°F (42°C).
  • E3: Temperature sensor not working.

If the screen displays E1, E2, or E3, check the temperature probe connection and the ambient temperature. Ensure the probe is fully plugged in and positioned correctly.

Video: Explains the meaning of error codes E1, E2, and E3 displayed on the thermostat.

8.2 Device Not Reaching Desired Temperature

If the thermostat delivers power to a heating/cooling device for more than 5 consecutive hours without reaching the desired temperature, it indicates that the desired temperature is not being reached. Check the connected device for proper function and ensure it is adequately sized for the environment.
