4. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps to install your WAYXIN R5 intercom unit onto your helmet.

4.1. Choosing Microphone Type

The R5 comes with two microphone options to suit different helmet types:

• Boom Microphone: Ideal for open-face or modular helmets where the microphone needs to extend closer to your mouth.
• Soft Wire Microphone: Best for full-face helmets where the microphone can be tucked inside the chin bar.

4.2. Mounting the Intercom Unit

The intercom unit can be mounted using the clip bracket or the adhesive plate.

1. Clip Bracket Installation:
   • Loosen the screws on the clip bracket.
   • Slide the bracket between the helmet shell and the inner padding, ensuring it is securely fastened.
   • Tighten the screws to secure the bracket.

2. Adhesive Plate Installation:

   • Slide the R5 unit onto the adhesive plate until it clicks into place.

4.3. Speaker and Microphone Installation

1. Remove the helmet's inner padding to expose the ear pockets.
2. Attach the speakers to the inside of the helmet's ear pockets using the provided hook-and-loop fasteners. Ensure they are positioned directly over your ears for optimal sound.
3. Route the speaker wires neatly under the helmet padding to the intercom unit's mounting location.
4. Attach the chosen microphone (boom or soft wire) to the inside of the helmet's chin bar, positioning it close to your mouth.
5. Connect the speaker and microphone cable to the 4.0 port on the R5 intercom unit.
6. Reinstall the helmet's inner padding.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Power On/Off

• Power On: Press and hold the Power Button for 3 seconds until the indicator light flashes.
• Power Off: Press and hold the Power Button for 3 seconds until the indicator light turns off.

5.2. Bluetooth Pairing with Mobile Device

1. Ensure the R5 unit is powered off.
2. Press and hold the Power Button for approximately 5-7 seconds until the indicator light flashes red and blue alternately, indicating pairing mode.
3. On your mobile phone, enable Bluetooth and search for "WAYXIN R5".
4. Select "WAYXIN R5" from the list of available devices to connect. A voice prompt will confirm successful pairing.

5.3. Intercom Communication (2 Riders)

1. Ensure both R5 units are powered on and within 1200 meters of each other.
2. On one R5 unit, press the Intercom Button (usually the large button with a phone icon or specific intercom icon) once to initiate pairing. The indicator light will flash rapidly.
3. On the second R5 unit, also press the Intercom Button once.
4. The units will automatically connect for full-duplex communication. A voice prompt will confirm the connection.
5. To end intercom communication, press the Intercom Button once on either unit.

5.4. Music Playback

• Play/Pause: Press the Power Button once.
• Next Track: Press the "+" button once.
• Previous Track: Press the "-" button once.
