Model: WF28 | Brand: AQUA CREST

1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your AQUA CREST WF28 replacement water filter. This filter is designed to provide clean, great-tasting water by reducing chlorine, lead, and other impurities. Please read this manual thoroughly before installation and retain it for future reference.

2. Safety Information

  • This filter is designed for use with cold water only. Do not connect to a hot water supply.
  • This filter does not reduce Total Dissolved Solids (TDS).
  • The filter housing is made from food-grade plastic and is Lead-free and BPA-free to ensure water safety.
  • Ensure all connections are secure to prevent leaks. Turn off the water supply before installation or replacement.

3. Compatibility

The AQUA CREST WF28 filter is compatible with the following filtration systems and filters:

  • GE Filtration Systems: GXULQK, GXK140TNN
  • Interchangeable with: GE GXULQR (specifically the Hexagon Head version)
  • Replacement for Filter: FQK1R

Important: Please verify your existing filter's joint type before purchase. The AQUA CREST WF28 is compatible with Hexagon Head GE GXULQR systems, not Pentagon Head versions.

4. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps to install your AQUA CREST WF28 replacement water filter:

  1. Turn off Water Supply: Locate the cold water supply valve connected to your filtration system and turn it off. It is also recommended to run the faucet briefly to relieve any remaining pressure in the system.
  2. Remove Old Filter: Twist the old filter counter-clockwise to unlock it from the filter head. Pull the old filter downwards to remove it. Be prepared for a small amount of water to drip.
  3. Prepare New Filter: Remove the protective cap from the new AQUA CREST WF28 filter.
  4. Insert New Filter: Align the new filter with the filter head. Push the filter upwards firmly into the head. You may need to apply significant upward pressure to ensure it seats correctly, especially if space under the sink is limited.
  5. Lock Filter: Once seated, twist the filter clockwise until it locks securely into place. Ensure it is fully engaged to prevent leaks.
  6. Restore Water Supply: Slowly turn on the cold water supply valve. Check for any leaks around the filter head.
  7. Flush the Filter: Run water through the filtered faucet for approximately 5 minutes to flush out any air and carbon fines. This ensures optimal performance and taste.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Filter is difficult to install: Ensure the filter is correctly aligned with the head. Apply firm, steady upward pressure while twisting clockwise. If the filter head is not mounted firmly, you may need to support it or temporarily remove it to gain better leverage. Always ensure the water supply is off during this process.
  • Black particles in water: It is normal for new carbon filters to release a small amount of carbon fines (black particles) during initial use. Flush the filter for 5-10 minutes until the water runs clear. If particles persist, contact customer support.
  • Leaks after installation: Turn off the water supply immediately. Re-check that the filter is fully seated and twisted securely into the locked position. Ensure the O-rings on the filter are intact and properly positioned.
  • Reduced water flow: This may indicate that the filter is nearing the end of its service life and is becoming clogged. Replace the filter as per the maintenance schedule.
