The BLACK+DECKER Portable Air Conditioner is designed for simple and quick installation. Follow these steps for optimal performance:

  1. Placement: Place the unit on a firm, smooth, and level floor strong enough to support its weight (54.8 lbs). To minimize noise and vibration, avoid uneven surfaces.
  2. Window Kit Assembly: Assemble the window kit components. The kit is designed for double-hung or sliding windows. Adjust the slider bracket to fit your window opening.
  3. Hose Connection: Attach the 5.9-inch diameter air exhaust hose to the unit and then to the window adapter. Ensure all connections are secure to prevent hot air from re-entering the room. The hose is 4 feet 11 inches long.
  4. Sealing: Use the provided foam seal to ensure a tight seal around the window kit, preventing air leakage.
  5. Power Connection: Plug the 70.8-inch long power cord into a standard 115V~/60Hz grounded outlet. The unit features a 3-prong grounded LCDI/Type B plug.

Allow the filter to air dry completely before reinserting it into the unit. It is recommended to clean the filter twice a month, or more frequently depending on usage and air quality.

6.2 Draining

While the unit features a bucket-less, self-evaporating operation, manual draining may be required in high humidity conditions or before storage. Connect the drain hose to the drain port and direct it to a suitable container or drain. Ensure the unit is turned off before draining.
