2. Product Overview
The BLACK+DECKER Portable Air Conditioner (Model BPT05WTBA) is a versatile 3-in-1 unit designed to provide cooling, dehumidification, and fan-only operation for rooms up to 350 sq. ft. Its portable design with handles and casters allows for easy movement between rooms.

3. Setup
The unit comes with a complete window kit for easy installation in double-hung or sliding windows. A Phillips head screwdriver is the only tool required for assembly.
3.1 Window Kit Installation
- Open your window slightly.
- Attach the exhaust hose to the adjustable plate.
- Place the adjustable plate with the attached hose into the window opening.
- Extend the plate to fit the window width/height and secure it with the provided screws.
- Apply the foam seals (included) to the edges of the window kit for a tight seal, preventing hot air from entering.

3.2 Exhaust Hose Connection
- Connect the exhaust hose to the back of the portable AC unit. Align the arrow on the hose connector with the unit's port and twist to lock.
- Ensure the hose is extended sufficiently to reach the window kit without sharp bends, which can restrict airflow.

3.3 Power Connection
Plug the unit into a standard 115V AC outlet. The unit is now ready for operation.
4. Operating Instructions
The portable AC unit offers three operating modes: Cool, Dehumidify, and Fan. All functions can be controlled via the top-mounted touch panel or the full-function remote control.
4.1 Modes and Temperature Adjustment
- Press the MODE button to cycle through Cool (snowflake icon), Dehumidify (water drop icon), and Fan (fan icon).
- In Cool mode, use the Up (▲) and Down (▼) arrows to set your desired temperature (64°F - 95°F).
4.2 Fan Speed Adjustment
- Press the FAN SPEED button to select between Low, Medium, High, or Auto fan speeds.
4.3 Remote Control Functions
The remote control allows you to operate all features from a distance. It requires two AAA batteries (not included).
- Power Button: Turns the unit On/Off.
- Mode Button: Cycles through operating modes.
- Temperature Arrows: Adjusts the set temperature.
- Fan Speed Button: Changes fan speed.
- Sleep Mode: Activates a quiet, energy-saving sleep mode.
- Timer: Sets a timer for automatic On/Off operation.
- °C/°F Button: Toggles between Celsius and Fahrenheit temperature display.

5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your portable AC unit.
5.1 Cleaning the Washable Filter
The unit features a removable, washable filter to maintain air quality and efficiency. Clean the filter regularly, especially during heavy use.
- Slide out the filter from the back of the unit.
- Wash the filter with warm, soapy water.
- Rinse thoroughly and allow it to air dry completely before reinserting.

5.2 Water Draining
The unit features auto water evaporation, which helps limit the need for frequent draining. However, in high humidity conditions, the internal water tank may fill up. The unit will indicate when draining is required.
- Locate the drain hose connection point at the bottom rear of the unit.
- Place a shallow pan or bucket beneath the drain outlet.
- Remove the drain plug to allow water to flow out.
- Replace the drain plug securely once the tank is empty.
6. Troubleshooting
