4. Setup and Charging

4.1 Charging the Battery

The battery pack is not fully charged at the time of purchase. Before using the tool for the first time, charge the battery pack completely.

  1. Connect the fast charger to a standard power outlet.
  2. Slide the battery pack onto the charger until it clicks into place.
  3. The charging indicator light on the charger will show the charging status. A full charge typically takes approximately 1 hour.
  4. Once fully charged, disconnect the charger from the power outlet and remove the battery pack.

4.2 Installing/Removing the Battery

  1. To Install: Align the battery pack with the base of the drill handle and slide it in until it locks securely into place. Ensure it is fully seated.
  2. To Remove: Press the battery release button located at the front of the battery pack and slide the battery out of the drill handle.

4.3 Installing/Removing Drill Bits and Screwdriver Bits

This drill features a 10mm keyless chuck for quick and easy bit changes.

Steps for exchanging drill bits in the keyless chuck

Figure 4.1: Visual guide demonstrating the three steps for changing bits: counterclockwise rotation to open the chuck, bit insertion, and clockwise rotation to tighten the chuck.

  1. To Open Chuck: Rotate the front collar of the chuck counter-clockwise until the jaws are wide enough to accept the bit.
  2. Insert Bit: Insert the desired drill bit or screwdriver bit into the chuck jaws. Ensure the bit is inserted as far as possible for maximum grip and stability.
  3. To Close Chuck: Rotate the front collar of the chuck clockwise until the jaws firmly grip the bit. Hand-tighten firmly to prevent slippage during operation.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Powering On/Off and Variable Speed Control

The drill is activated by pressing the trigger switch. The speed is variable depending on how far the trigger is pressed.

Image showing variable speed control via the trigger switch and high/low speed switch

Figure 5.1: Illustration of the variable speed trigger and the high/low speed selector switch, indicating how to control the drill's rotational speed.

  • To Start: Press the trigger switch. The further you press, the faster the drill will rotate.
  • To Stop: Release the trigger switch.
  • LED Light: The integrated LED light illuminates the work area when the trigger is pressed, improving visibility in dark conditions.

Figure 5.2: The drill's built-in LED light actively illuminating a screw being driven into a surface in a dimly lit environment, highlighting its utility for precision work.

5.2 High/Low Speed Selection

The drill offers two speed ranges for different applications.

Close-up of the high/low speed selector switch

Figure 5.3: A close-up view of the red high/low speed selector switch located on top of the drill, showing its two positions for different speed ranges.

  • Low Speed (0-400 RPM): Ideal for driving screws, drilling larger holes, or applications requiring higher torque. Select by sliding the switch to position '1'.
  • High Speed (0-1500 RPM): Suitable for drilling smaller holes in wood or metal, or when faster drilling is required. Select by sliding the switch to position '2'.

Note: Always change the speed setting when the drill is stopped to prevent gear damage.

5.3 Forward/Reverse Operation

The forward/reverse switch controls the direction of rotation.

Image showing the forward/reverse switch positions

Figure 5.4: Depiction of the forward/reverse switch, illustrating its positions for clockwise rotation (tightening) and counter-clockwise rotation (loosening).

  • Forward (Clockwise): Push the switch to the left (when viewed from the rear of the drill) for drilling and tightening screws.
  • Reverse (Counter-clockwise): Push the switch to the right for removing screws or backing out drill bits.
  • Lock Position: When the switch is in the center position, the trigger is locked, preventing accidental startup. Always engage the lock when not in use or when changing bits.

5.4 Torque Adjustment (Clutch Settings)

The torque adjustment ring allows you to set the amount of torque before the clutch disengages, preventing overtightening of screws or stripping screw heads.

Image showing torque adjustment settings and applications

Figure 5.5: Visual representation of the 21+1 torque adjustment settings and examples of applications such as screw tightening, drilling in wood, and drilling in metal.

  • Rotate the torque adjustment ring to select from 21 torque settings. Lower numbers are for smaller screws or softer materials, higher numbers for larger screws or harder materials.
  • The drill icon setting bypasses the clutch for maximum torque, suitable for drilling holes.
  • The maximum torque is 30 N.m.

6. Maintenance and Care

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your drill.

  • Cleaning: Regularly clean the ventilation slots of the drill to prevent overheating. Use a soft, damp cloth. Do not use solvents or abrasive cleaners.
  • Chuck Maintenance: Keep the chuck jaws clean and free of debris to ensure proper gripping of bits.
  • Battery Care:
    • Store batteries in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
    • Do not store batteries in a discharged state for extended periods. Recharge them periodically.
    • Do not short-circuit the battery terminals.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the drill and its accessories in the provided storage bag in a dry, secure location out of reach of children.
