5. Setup

  1. Connect HDMI Sources: Connect up to five HDMI source devices (e.g., Apple TV, Roku, PS5, Xbox, Blu-ray player) to the HDMI IN1 through HDMI IN5 ports on the switch using high-quality HDMI cables.
  2. Connect to Display: Connect the HDMI OUT port of the switch to the HDMI input of your display (TV, projector, monitor) using an HDMI cable.
  3. Connect Power: Plug the 5V DC power adapter into the DC 5V port on the switch, then plug the adapter into a power outlet. The power indicator LED on the front panel will illuminate.
  4. Power On Devices: Power on your HDMI display and all connected HDMI source devices.

Application Tip:

Avoid using a surge protector to control the power of the entire HDMI system connected by this switch. Different HDMI sources, displays, and the switch itself may require varying amounts of time to power up correctly. Powering the entire system simultaneously via a single surge protector can lead to unexpected and random logic errors. It is recommended to power devices individually or allow sufficient time for each component to initialize.

6. Operating

6.1. Manual Switching

You can switch between HDMI inputs using two methods:

  • Front Panel Button: Press the 'Switch' button on the front panel of the device to cycle through the HDMI inputs (IN1, IN2, IN3, IN4, IN5). The corresponding LED will light up to indicate the active input.
  • IR Remote Control: Use the numbered buttons (1-5) on the IR remote control to directly select the desired HDMI input.

6.2. Automatic Switching (Auto-Switching)

The switch supports an input auto-switching function, which detects active HDMI sources and automatically switches to the newly activated input. This function can be enabled or disabled.

  • Enable/Disable Auto-Switching: Press and hold the 'Switch' button on the front panel for 5 seconds to toggle the auto-switching function on or off. Alternatively, use the 'Auto' button on the IR remote control.

6.3. Understanding Input Auto Switching Compatibility

Input auto-switching relies on detecting power signals from HDMI sources. Not all HDMI sources are compatible with this feature, and compatibility can vary.

  • To test if the HDMI switch supports input auto-switching:
    1. Connect two HDMI sources (A and B) to input 1 and input 2, respectively.
    2. Power up source A and select input 1 on the switch.
    3. Power up source B and connect it to input 2. If the switch automatically changes from input 1 to input 2, then this switch supports input auto-switching.
  • To test if an HDMI source is compatible with the input auto-switching function:
    1. Using the setup above, with both sources A and B active and the HDMI switch currently on input 2 (from source B).
    2. Power off HDMI source B. If the switch automatically returns to input 1 (source A), then source B is compatible. Otherwise, it is not compatible.

Note: "Power off" in this context means the HDMI source is switched from active mode to standby/sleep mode, but it is still connected to the 110V/220V power source.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the device. Do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners.
  • Storage: Store the device in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures when not in use.
  • Cable Management: Ensure HDMI cables are not excessively bent or strained to prevent damage to the cables or the switch ports.

8. Troubleshooting

  • No Picture/Signal:
    • Ensure all HDMI cables are securely connected.
    • Verify the power adapter is correctly connected and the switch is powered on.
    • Confirm the correct input is selected on the switch (manual or auto-switching).
    • Try connecting the HDMI source directly to the display to rule out cable or source issues.
    • Restart all connected devices (source, switch, display) by unplugging and re-plugging their power cables.
  • Flickering/Intermittent Signal:
    • Use high-quality, certified HDMI 2.0 cables, especially for 4K@60Hz HDR content.
    • Ensure cable lengths are within recommended limits for 4K signals.
    • Check for interference from other electronic devices.
  • Auto-Switching Not Working:
    • Ensure the auto-switching function is enabled (refer to Section 6.2).
    • Test the compatibility of your HDMI sources with the auto-switching feature (refer to Section 6.3).
    • Some devices may not fully power down or signal their state correctly, affecting auto-switching.
  • Remote Control Not Responding:
    • Check and replace the battery in the remote control.
    • Ensure there are no obstructions between the remote and the switch's IR receiver.
    • Point the remote directly at the IR receiver on the front panel.
