2. Setup
2.1 Battery Installation and Activation
Your TAMAGOTCHI comes with a CR2032 battery pre-installed. To activate your device:
- Pull the plastic tab from the battery compartment on the back of the device. This will activate the battery.
- The Tamagotchi egg will appear on the screen.
- Press the 'A' button (left) to select, 'B' button (middle) to execute, and 'C' button (right) to cancel or return.
2.2 Setting the Time
After activation, you will need to set the current time:
- Press the 'A' button to adjust the hour.
- Press the 'B' button to confirm the hour and move to minutes.
- Press the 'A' button to adjust the minutes.
- Press the 'B' button to confirm the minutes.
- Your Tamagotchi egg will hatch shortly after the time is set.

3. Operating Instructions
Caring for your Tamagotchi involves monitoring its needs and interacting with it using the three control buttons (A, B, C). The icons on the screen represent various actions and status indicators.

3.1 Basic Care Functions
- Feed: Select the fork and knife icon. Choose between a meal (fills hunger, adds 1 lb) or a snack (fills happiness, adds 2 lbs). Avoid overfeeding snacks to prevent illness and obesity.
- Bathroom: Select the duck icon when your Tamagotchi has made a mess. Prompt cleaning prevents illness.
- Lights: Select the light bulb icon to turn lights off when your Tamagotchi sleeps and on when it wakes up.
- Discipline: Select the angry face icon when your Tamagotchi calls for attention without needing anything. This helps shape its behavior.
- Medicine: Select the syringe icon when your Tamagotchi is sick. Treat illness immediately to prevent death.
- Play Game: Select the game controller icon to play the Character game. Winning games increases happiness and can help manage weight.
- Check Status: Select the heart icon to view your Tamagotchi's age, weight, hunger, happiness, and discipline levels.
3.2 Advanced Features
- Pause Function: To pause your Tamagotchi, press the 'A' and 'B' buttons simultaneously. This is useful when you cannot attend to your pet for an extended period.
- Mute Sound: To mute the device, press the 'A' and 'C' buttons simultaneously. Repeat to unmute. This can also dim the backlight, conserving battery.

4. Maintenance
4.1 Battery Replacement
When the screen dims or the device stops responding, it's time to replace the battery. Your Tamagotchi uses one CR2032 nonstandard battery.
- Locate the battery compartment on the back of the device.
- Use a small screwdriver to open the compartment.
- Carefully remove the old CR2032 battery.
- Insert a new CR2032 battery with the positive (+) side facing up.
- Securely close the battery compartment.

- Tamagotchi constantly beeps: Check the Health icon to determine its needs (hunger, happiness, discipline, illness). If no need is apparent, use the discipline function.
- Device reset: If your Tamagotchi is not functioning correctly, you can reset it by pressing the reset button located on the back of the device with a pointed object (e.g., a pen tip). Note that resetting will restart your Tamagotchi from the egg stage.
