The front panel provides access to all primary controls and inputs for convenient operation:

• Power Button: Turns the unit on or off.
• Display: 16-character x 2-line alphanumeric dot matrix display with white LED backlight for showing source, track information, and settings.
• USB Port & SD Card Slot: For MP3 playback from compatible storage devices (up to 128GB).
• Headphone Jack (6.35mm): For private listening.

The rear panel houses all the necessary connections for your audio system, including speaker terminals and various input/output ports. Refer to the connection diagrams in the 'Setup' section for detailed instructions.

Setup

Unpacking

Carefully remove the amplifier and all accessories from the packaging. Ensure all items listed in the 'Accessories Included' section of the specifications are present.

Speaker Connection

The AMU-120BT/SL features QUAD speaker connections (A and B) with non-magnetic gold-plated terminals. Ensure correct polarity (+ to + and - to -) for optimal sound quality.

• Speaker A/B: Connect speakers to either the A or B terminals. The impedance for Speaker A or B used individually should be 4-8 ohms.
• Speaker A+B: If using both Speaker A and Speaker B simultaneously, the impedance for each speaker set should be 8-16 ohms.
• Twist the bare wire ends tightly before inserting them into the terminals to prevent short circuits.

Connecting Audio Sources

The amplifier offers a variety of analog audio inputs:

• PHONO (MM): Connect your turntable to this input. Ensure the PHONO (GND) terminal is connected to your turntable's ground wire to reduce hum. The amplifier has a built-in preamplifier and RIAA equalizer.
• CD/SACD: Connect your CD or SACD player.
• AUX-IN 1, AUX-IN 2, AUX-IN 3: Connect other audio devices such as tape decks, tuners, or media players.
• MIC: Connect a microphone for vocal input.
• BT: For Bluetooth audio streaming (see 'Operating Instructions' for pairing).
• Stereo Record Output: Connect to the input of a recording device (e.g., tape deck) to record the currently selected source.

Power Connection

After all audio and speaker connections are made, connect the supplied AC power cable to the amplifier's rear power inlet and then to a wall outlet. Ensure the rear master power switch is in the 'ON' position for the unit to enter standby mode or power on.

Operating Instructions

Power On/Off

Press the Power button on the front panel or the remote control to turn the unit on or off. A master power switch is located on the rear panel for complete power disconnection.

Source Selection

Press the corresponding source buttons (PHONO, CD/SACD, AUX-IN 1/2/3, MIC, BT) on the front panel or remote control to select your desired audio input. The selected source will be displayed on the front panel screen.

Volume Control

Rotate the large digital rotary controller on the front panel clockwise to increase volume and counter-clockwise to decrease it. Volume can also be adjusted using the remote control.

Bluetooth Operation

The amplifier features integrated Bluetooth V5.0 with a wireless range of up to 10 meters.

1. Select 'BT' as the source. The display will show 'PAIRING'.
2. On your Bluetooth-enabled device (e.g., smartphone, tablet), search for available Bluetooth devices.
3. Select 'AIWA AMU-120BT' from the list. Once connected, the display will show 'CONNECTED'.
4. You can now stream audio from your device to the amplifier. Media information will scroll on the display.

USB/SD Playback

Insert a USB flash drive or SD card (up to 128GB, MP3 format) into the respective slot on the front panel.

• The amplifier will automatically switch to USB/SD source and begin playback.
• Use the navigation buttons on the front panel or remote control to play/pause, skip tracks, or browse folders.
• ID3-Tag information (song title, artist) will scroll on the display.

Tone Control (Bass, Treble, Loudness, Direct)

• Bass/Treble: Use the rotary digital controller to adjust bass and treble levels independently by +/- 10 dB. Press the controller to cycle between Volume, Bass, Treble, and Balance adjustments.
• LOUDNESS: Press the LOUDNESS button to activate or deactivate the loudness compensation, which boosts bass and treble frequencies at lower listening volumes.
• DIRECT: Press the DIRECT button to bypass the tone control circuitry, providing a pure, uncolored audio signal.

Headphone and Microphone Use

• Headphones: Plug 6.35mm headphones into the front panel jack for private listening. Speaker output will be muted automatically.
• Microphone: Plug a 6.35mm microphone into the front panel jack. Adjust the microphone volume using the dedicated control if available, or the main volume.

Remote Control

The included full-function metallic remote control allows convenient operation of all amplifier features, including power, source selection, volume, tone controls, and MP3/BT playback controls. Ensure the two AAA batteries are correctly inserted.

Maintenance

Cleaning

To clean the amplifier, first unplug it from the power outlet. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the exterior surfaces. Do not use liquid cleaners, abrasive cleaners, or aerosol sprays, as these may damage the finish or internal components.

Storage

If you plan to store the amplifier for an extended period, disconnect it from all power and audio sources. Store it in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. It is recommended to keep the original packaging for safe storage and transport.

Troubleshooting

If you experience issues with your amplifier, consult the following common problems and solutions before seeking professional service.

• No Power:
  • Ensure the power cable is securely connected to the amplifier and the wall outlet.
  • Check if the master power switch on the rear panel is in the 'ON' position.
  • Verify the wall outlet is functioning by plugging in another device.
• No Sound:
  • Check speaker connections for correct polarity and secure fit.
  • Ensure the correct audio source is selected.
  • Increase the volume level.
  • Verify that the Speaker A/B selector is set to the correct output.
  • If headphones are plugged in, unplug them to enable speaker output.
• Bluetooth Connection Issues:
  • Ensure the amplifier is in 'BT' source mode and in pairing mode.
  • Make sure your Bluetooth device is within the 10-meter range.
  • Forget the device on your Bluetooth source and try pairing again.
  • Restart both the amplifier and your Bluetooth device.
• USB/SD Not Reading:
  • Ensure the USB drive or SD card is inserted correctly.
  • Verify that the files are in MP3 format.
  • Check if the storage device capacity exceeds 128GB.
  • Try a different USB drive or SD card.
