2. Safety Instructions
- Power Source: Connect the unit only to an AC mains power supply as indicated on the rating label.

5. Setup
- Unpacking: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Retain packaging for future transport.
- Speaker Connection: Connect the two stereo speakers to the speaker output terminals on the rear of the main unit. Ensure correct polarity (+ to + and - to -).
- DAB+ Antenna: Insert the plug-in DAB+ antenna into its designated port on the rear of the unit. Position the antenna for optimal reception.

6. Operating Instructions
6.1 General Operation
- Power On/Off: Rotate the VOLUME knob clockwise to turn the unit ON. Rotate counter-clockwise until it clicks to turn OFF.
- Volume Control: Adjust the VOLUME knob to your desired listening level.
- Source Selection: Press the SOURCE button repeatedly on the unit or remote control to cycle through available functions (PHONO, CD, FM, DAB, BT, TAPE, USB, SD).
- Equalizer: Use the EQ button to select from 5 preset equalizer modes for different sound profiles.
6.2 Turntable Operation (PHONO)
- Lift the dust cover.
- Place a record on the platter. Select the appropriate speed (33, 45, or 78 RPM) using the speed selector switch. For 45 RPM singles, place the included adapter on the spindle.
- Ensure the auto-stop switch is set to ON for automatic stopping at the end of a record, or OFF for continuous play.
- Gently lift the tone arm using the cueing lever and position the stylus over the desired track.
- Lower the cueing lever to slowly drop the stylus onto the record.
- At the end of the record, the tone arm will return to its rest position if auto-stop is enabled. Manually return the tone arm to its rest and secure it with the clip when finished.
6.3 CD Player Operation
- Press the CD button to select the CD source.
- Press the OPEN/CLOSE button to open the CD tray.
- Place a CD with the label side facing up into the tray.
- Press OPEN/CLOSE again to close the tray. The CD will begin playing automatically.
- Use the PLAY/PAUSE, STOP, SKIP FORWARD, and SKIP BACKWARD buttons for control.
6.4 FM/DAB+ Radio Operation
- Press the FM or DAB button to select the desired radio band.
- For DAB+: The unit will automatically scan for available stations upon first use. Use the TUNING knob or SKIP buttons to navigate through the station list.
- For FM: Use the TUNING knob to manually tune to a station or press and hold the SKIP buttons for auto-scan.
- Presets: To save a station, press and hold the PRESET button, then use the SKIP buttons to select a preset number and press PRESET again to confirm. To recall a preset, briefly press PRESET and use SKIP buttons.
6.5 Bluetooth Operation (BT)
- Press the BT button to select Bluetooth mode. The display will show 'BT' and flash, indicating it's in pairing mode.
- On your Bluetooth-enabled device (smartphone, tablet, etc.), enable Bluetooth and search for new devices.
- Select 'Steepletone Chicago' from the list of available devices.
- Once paired, the display will stop flashing, and you can play music from your device through the music center.
6.6 Cassette Player Operation (TAPE)
- Press the TAPE button to select cassette mode.
- Open the cassette door for Deck 1 or Deck 2. Insert a cassette tape.
- Use the PLAY, REWIND, FAST FORWARD, and STOP buttons to control playback.
- The unit supports continuous playback between Deck 1 and Deck 2.
6.7 USB/SD Playback
- Insert a USB stick or SD card (up to 16GB, MP3 format) into the respective port.
- Press the USB or SD button to select the source.
- The unit will automatically detect and begin playing MP3 files.
- Use the PLAY/PAUSE, STOP, SKIP FORWARD, and SKIP BACKWARD buttons for control.
7. Recording Functions
The Steepletone Chicago allows recording from vinyl, CD, and cassette to USB or SD card in MP3 format.
- Insert a USB stick or SD card (up to 16GB) into the appropriate port.
- Select the desired source for recording (PHONO, CD, TAPE).
- Begin playback of the source material.
- Press the RECORD button. The unit will start recording.

- Press the STOP button to end the recording.
8. Maintenance
- Cleaning the Unit: Wipe the unit with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Stylus Care: The stylus is a delicate component. Clean it periodically with a soft brush designed for stylus cleaning, brushing from back to front. Replace the stylus when sound quality deteriorates.
