Introduction
The Zombicide Night of The Living Dead Board Game is a cooperative strategy game where players take on the roles of survivors from George A. Romero's classic horror film. Players work together to accomplish tasks and fend off ghoul threats. The game features intuitive rules and offers two distinct survivor modes: Romero Mode, which recreates the film's atmosphere, and Zombicide Mode, which focuses on intense zombie combat.
As survivors, you will search for weapons, eliminate ghouls, and upgrade your skills. The challenge intensifies as more ghouls appear with each elimination. Your objective is to survive the night and overcome shared suspicions to escape the house alive.

Gameplay Overview
Zombicide Night of The Living Dead is played over a series of rounds, with each round consisting of a Player Phase and a Ghoul Phase.
Player Phase
During the Player Phase, each survivor takes their turn. On a survivor's turn, they can perform a set number of actions, such as:
- Move: Move to an adjacent zone.
- Search: Draw an Equipment card in specific zones.
- Attack: Use equipped weapons to attack ghouls.
- Open/Close Doors: Interact with doors on the board.
- Perform Scenario Actions: Complete specific actions required by the current scenario's objectives.
Survivor Modes: Romero and Zombicide
Survivors can switch between two modes, each offering different abilities and thematic experiences:
- Romero Mode: This mode emphasizes the tense, survival-horror atmosphere of the original film. Survivors in Romero Mode have abilities that reflect a more grounded, desperate struggle against the undead.
- Zombicide Mode: This mode allows survivors to become more powerful, capable of taking on larger hordes of ghouls with enhanced combat skills. Switching to Zombicide Mode often involves specific game triggers or actions.
The ability to switch between these modes adds strategic depth, allowing players to adapt their approach based on the immediate threat and scenario objectives.
Ghoul Phase
After all players have completed their turns, the Ghoul Phase begins. During this phase:
- Activate Ghouls: All ghouls on the board activate. They typically move towards the nearest survivor or attack survivors in their zone.
- Spawn New Ghouls: New ghouls are spawned at designated spawn points by drawing Ghoul cards. The number and type of ghouls spawned depend on the card drawn and the current danger level.
The game continues with alternating Player and Ghoul Phases until the scenario's win or loss conditions are met.
Care and Storage
Proper care and storage will ensure the longevity of your board game components:
- Store in a Cool, Dry Place: Keep the game box and components away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and humidity to prevent warping or fading.
- Handle Miniatures Carefully: The detailed miniatures can be fragile. Avoid dropping them or applying excessive force. Consider storing them in a compartmentalized tray or foam insert if available.
- Protect Cards: To prevent wear and tear, consider sleeving the game cards. Always handle cards with clean, dry hands.
- Keep Components Organized: Use the provided inserts or aftermarket organizers to keep all components sorted and prevent loss.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
If you encounter issues during gameplay, consider the following:
- Rules Clarification: Refer to the official rulebook for detailed explanations of specific game mechanics or card effects. Online forums and official CMON resources can also provide clarifications.
- Missing Components: If any components are missing upon unboxing, carefully check all packaging materials. If still missing, contact CMON customer support for assistance.
- Game Difficulty: If the game feels too easy or too difficult, review the scenario setup and rules. Some scenarios may offer difficulty adjustments, or you can ensure all rules, especially ghoul activation and spawning, are being applied correctly.
