Product Overview

Controls and Display
Familiarize yourself with the buttons and display elements for optimal use of your Aiwa CR-15.

Button Functions:
- RADIO / POWER Button: Turns the radio on/off.
- VOLUME +/- Buttons: Adjusts the audio volume.
- BAND Button: Switches between AM and FM radio bands.
- MEM / MEM SET Button: Used to store and recall radio presets.
- SET / SET Button: Used to enter time and alarm setting modes.
- HOUR / MIN Buttons: Adjusts hour and minute settings during time/alarm setup, and tunes radio frequency.
- SNOOZE Button: Temporarily silences the alarm for a short period.
- SLEEP / SLEEP Button: Activates and adjusts the sleep timer.
Display Indicators:
- Time Display: Shows the current time in 24-hour format.
- Alarm 1 Indicator: Lights up when Alarm 1 is active.
- Alarm 2 Indicator: Lights up when Alarm 2 is active.
- AM/FM Indicators: Shows the currently selected radio band.
Initial Setup
Power Connection:
- Plug the AC power cord into a standard 100-240V, 50/60Hz wall outlet.
- The display will light up, and the clock will be ready for time setting.
Battery Backup Installation:
For backup power during outages, install two LR03/AAA batteries (not included).
- Locate the battery compartment on the bottom of the unit.
- Open the battery compartment cover.
- Insert two LR03/AAA batteries, observing the correct polarity (+ and -) as indicated inside the compartment.
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
Note: The battery backup only retains time and alarm settings; it does not power the display or alarm functions during a power outage.
Operating Instructions
Setting the Time:
- Ensure the unit is powered on.
- Press and hold the SET button until the hour digits begin to flash.
- Use the HOUR button to adjust the hour.
- Press the SET button again; the minute digits will flash.
- Use the MIN button to adjust the minutes.
- Press the SET button once more to confirm and exit time setting mode.
Setting Alarms (Alarm 1 & Alarm 2):
The Aiwa CR-15 allows you to set two independent alarms.
- Press the SET button once (do not hold) to select Alarm 1 or Alarm 2. The corresponding alarm indicator will flash.
- Press and hold the SET button until the hour digits of the selected alarm flash.
- Use the HOUR button to set the desired alarm hour.
- Press the SET button again; the minute digits will flash.
- Use the MIN button to set the desired alarm minutes.
- Press the SET button again to select the alarm source: Radio or Buzzer. Use HOUR/MIN buttons to toggle.
- Press the SET button once more to confirm and exit alarm setting mode.
- To activate/deactivate an alarm, press the SET button repeatedly until the desired alarm indicator (1 or 2) is lit (active) or off (inactive).
Using the Radio (AM/FM Tuning and Presets):
- Press the RADIO button to turn on the radio.
- Press the BAND button to switch between AM and FM bands.
- Manual Tuning: Use the HOUR (tune down) or MIN (tune up) buttons to manually adjust the frequency.
- Auto Scan: Press and hold the HOUR or MIN button to automatically scan for the next available station.
- Storing Presets:
- Tune to the desired station.
- Press and hold the MEM / MEM SET button until "PXX" flashes on the display (XX is the preset number).
- Use the HOUR or MIN buttons to select the desired preset number (P01-P10 for each band).
- Press MEM / MEM SET again to confirm and save the station.
- Recalling Presets: While in radio mode, press the MEM / MEM SET button repeatedly (do not hold) to cycle through your stored presets.
Snooze Function:
When an alarm sounds, press the large SNOOZE button on top of the unit. The alarm will temporarily stop and sound again after approximately 9 minutes.
Sleep Timer Function:
The sleep timer allows the radio to play for a set duration before automatically turning off.
- While the radio is playing, press the SLEEP button repeatedly to cycle through available sleep times (e.g., 90, 60, 30, 15 minutes, OFF).
- The radio will automatically turn off after the selected time duration.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the unit. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Dust: Keep the unit free from dust accumulation, especially around the speaker grille and buttons.
- Placement: Place the unit on a stable, flat surface away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and excessive moisture.
- Battery Replacement: Replace backup batteries annually or when the unit is unplugged for extended periods to ensure time retention.
Troubleshooting
