Introduction
The Powermate PM7500 portable generator is designed to provide reliable power for various applications, including outdoor events, DIY projects, and emergency backup during power outages. This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of your generator.
Key features of the PM7500 include:
- Convenient Powerdial Start: Integrates Off, Run, and Cold Start settings into one simple-to-use dial for easy operation.
- Reliable Generac OHV Engine: Powered by a robust 420cc Generac OHV engine for consistent power.
- Extended Runtime: An 8-gallon steel fuel tank provides up to 14 hours of runtime at 25% load.
- Enhanced Mobility: Equipped with 10-inch never-flat wheels for easy transportation.
- COsense Technology: Provides powerful protection against hazardous carbon monoxide.
- User-Friendly Design: Features a fuel gauge and covered outlets for convenience and protection.
Setup
Before operating your Powermate PM7500 generator, ensure proper assembly and preparation. Follow these steps carefully:
- Unboxing and Initial Inspection: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Inspect the generator for any signs of damage during shipping. Ensure all included components (engine oil, oil funnel, handle and wheel kit, owner's manual) are present.
- Wheel and Handle Assembly: Attach the 10-inch never-flat wheels and the handle kit to the generator frame. Refer to the owner's manual for specific instructions on bolt and nut placement.
- Add Engine Oil: The generator is shipped without engine oil. Place the generator on a level surface. Remove the oil fill cap/dipstick. Using the provided oil funnel, carefully add the recommended engine oil (SAE 10W-30 is typically recommended, refer to your owner's manual for exact type and capacity) until it reaches the full mark on the dipstick. Do not overfill.
- Connect Battery: Locate the battery compartment. Connect the positive (+) and negative (-) battery terminals as instructed in the owner's manual. Ensure connections are secure.
- Add Fuel: Ensure the generator is turned off and cool. Open the fuel cap and carefully fill the 8-gallon fuel tank with fresh, unleaded gasoline. Do not overfill. Always use a fuel stabilizer if storing fuel for extended periods.

Operating Instructions
Once the generator is set up, follow these steps to start and operate it safely:
- Placement: Position the generator outdoors in a well-ventilated area, away from windows, doors, and vents to prevent carbon monoxide buildup. Ensure it is on a level surface.
- Powerdial Operation: The PM7500 features a convenient Powerdial. Turn the Powerdial to the 'Cold Start' position if the engine is cold, or 'Run' if the engine is warm.
- Starting the Engine: Press and hold the 'Start' button (if equipped with electric start) or pull the recoil start handle firmly until the engine starts. Once the engine starts, slowly move the Powerdial to the 'Run' position.
- Connecting Appliances: Allow the engine to run for a few minutes to stabilize. Plug your appliances or extension cords into the appropriate outlets on the control panel. Ensure the total wattage of connected devices does not exceed the generator's running wattage (6000 watts).
- Monitoring: Observe the hour meter to track runtime and plan for maintenance. Pay attention to any warning indicators, especially the COsense technology alert.
- Stopping the Engine: To stop the generator, disconnect all loads. Allow the engine to run for a few minutes without load to cool down. Turn the Powerdial to the 'Off' position.

Maintenance
Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and optimal performance of your generator. Refer to the owner's manual for a detailed maintenance schedule.
- Check Engine Oil: Before each use, ensure the engine oil level is adequate. Add oil if necessary.
- Inspect Air Filter: Regularly check the air filter for dirt and debris. Clean or replace as needed to ensure proper engine function.
- Spark Plug Inspection: Inspect the spark plug periodically. Clean or replace if worn or fouled.
- Fuel System: If storing the generator for an extended period, drain the fuel tank or use a fuel stabilizer to prevent fuel degradation.
- General Cleaning: Keep the generator clean and free of debris. Ensure cooling fins are clear for proper heat dissipation.
Troubleshooting
If your generator encounters issues, consult this basic troubleshooting guide. For complex problems, contact customer support.
- Engine Fails to Start: Check fuel level, engine oil level, spark plug condition, and ensure the Powerdial is in the correct starting position. Verify battery connections if using electric start.
- No Power Output: Check circuit breakers on the control panel. Ensure all connected appliances are within the generator's wattage capacity.
- Engine Runs Rough: Inspect the air filter for clogs. Ensure fresh fuel is being used.
- COsense Alert: If the COsense indicator activates, immediately move the generator to an open, well-ventilated area and allow it to cool. Do not operate in enclosed spaces.
