2. Setup

1. Unpack: Carefully remove the sharpener and all packaging materials from the box.
2. Placement: Place the sharpener on a stable, flat surface. The slip-resistant bottom helps keep it steady during use.
3. Power Connection: Plug the sharpener's power cord into a standard electrical outlet.
4. Shavings Bin: Ensure the extra-large shavings bin is securely in place. The SafeStart® motor will not operate if the bin is removed or improperly seated.

3. Operating Instructions

1. Insert Pencil: Gently insert a pencil into the sharpening opening. The auto-adjust dial will automatically adapt to the pencil's size.
2. Sharpening Process: Apply light pressure to the pencil. The motor will start automatically.
3. SmartStop® Indication: Continue holding the pencil until the SmartStop® feature activates, indicated by a bold LED light. This signals that the pencil has reached an ideal, break-resistant point and the motor will automatically stop.
4. Remove Pencil: Once the LED light illuminates and the motor stops, remove the sharpened pencil.

Note: The sharpener is designed to prevent over-sharpening, ensuring a consistent and durable tip every time. It is compatible with various pencil types, including colored pencils.

4. Maintenance

1. Emptying Shavings Bin:
   • When the shavings bin appears full, or before it overflows, carefully remove it from the sharpener. The SafeStart® motor will automatically shut off when the bin is removed.
   • Empty the pencil shavings into a waste receptacle.
   • Reinsert the shavings bin securely until it clicks into place.
2. Cleaning:
   • Periodically wipe the exterior of the sharpener with a soft, dry cloth.
   • Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the sharpener in water.
   • The internal blade assembly is designed for longevity and typically does not require user maintenance or replacement.
