Operating Instructions
Brewing Espresso
- Preheat: Ensure the machine is fully heated (indicator lights stable). Run a blank shot through the portafilter to preheat it and the cup.
- Grind Coffee: Grind fresh coffee beans to a fine consistency suitable for espresso.
- Dose and Tamp: Place the appropriate filter basket (single or double) into the portafilter. Fill with ground coffee and tamp firmly and evenly. Wipe any excess grounds from the rim.
- Insert Portafilter: Insert the portafilter into the brew head and twist firmly to the 'Close' position.
- Brew: Place your cup(s) under the portafilter spouts. Press the single or double shot button. The machine will automatically brew the programmed amount. Monitor the pressure gauge for optimal extraction (typically in the middle of the 'Espresso' range).
- Remove Portafilter: Once brewing is complete, carefully remove the portafilter and discard the used coffee puck.

Steaming Milk
- Prepare Milk: Fill the milk pitcher with cold milk (dairy or non-dairy) to just below the spout.
- Activate Steam: Press the steam button on the control panel. Wait for the steam indicator light to become solid, indicating the machine is ready for steaming.
- Purge Steam Wand: Before inserting into milk, briefly open the steam knob to purge any condensed water from the wand. Close the knob.
- Steam Milk: Insert the steam wand tip just below the surface of the milk. Open the steam knob fully. Angle the pitcher to create a vortex, incorporating air for frothing. Lower the pitcher slightly to continue texturing the milk.
- Monitor Temperature: Steam until the milk reaches your desired temperature (around 140-150°F or 60-65°C).
- Clean Steam Wand: Immediately after steaming, close the steam knob. Wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth to remove any milk residue and briefly purge again to clear the internal passage.

Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and longevity of your espresso machine.
Daily Cleaning
- Drip Tray: Empty and rinse the drip tray after each use or when the 'Full' indicator appears.
- Portafilter and Filter Baskets: Rinse thoroughly after each use. For stubborn residue, soak in warm soapy water.
- Steam Wand: Always wipe and purge immediately after steaming milk.
- Brew Head: Use a damp cloth to wipe the brew head and group seal.
Weekly Cleaning
- Backflushing: Use a blind filter basket and a cleaning tablet (if recommended by Solis) to backflush the brew head. Follow specific instructions for your machine model.
- Water Tank: Wash the water tank with warm soapy water and rinse.
Descaling
The machine will indicate when descaling is required. Use a descaling solution specifically designed for espresso machines and follow the product's instructions carefully. Descaling removes mineral buildup and is crucial for machine performance and taste.
Troubleshooting

|---|---|---|
| No water flow from brew head. | Water tank empty; pump not primed; brew head clogged. | Refill water tank; prime the pump (see Setup); clean brew head. |
| Espresso flows too fast/weak. | Coffee grind too coarse; insufficient tamping; too little coffee. | Use finer grind; tamp more firmly; increase coffee dose. |
| Espresso flows too slow/not at all. | Coffee grind too fine; excessive tamping; brew head clogged. | Use coarser grind; tamp less firmly; clean brew head; descale machine. |
| Steam wand not producing steam. | Not heated to steam temperature; wand clogged. | Wait for steam light; clean steam wand thoroughly. |
| Machine leaking water. | Water tank not seated correctly; drip tray full; internal leak. | Reseat water tank; empty drip tray; contact customer support if leak persists. |
