4. Setup and Installation

For optimal performance and safety, it is highly recommended to have the Myra ALR01 alarm system installed by a qualified motorcycle technician.

4.1 Choosing a Mounting Location

Select a secure, hidden, and dry location on your motorcycle, away from direct heat sources, engine vibrations, and excessive moisture. Ensure the location allows for proper wiring connections and does not interfere with any moving parts or vehicle operation.

4.2 Mounting the Alarm Unit

  1. Clean the chosen mounting surface thoroughly to ensure good adhesion.
  2. Peel off the protective film from both sides of the adhesive mounting pad.
  3. Attach one side of the adhesive pad to the bottom of the alarm unit.
  4. Firmly press the alarm unit with the attached adhesive pad onto the prepared mounting surface on your motorcycle. Alternatively, the unit has mounting tabs for screw-based installation (screws not included).

4.3 Electrical Connection

The Myra ALR01 alarm system operates on a 12V DC power supply, typical for motorcycles. Connect the alarm unit to your motorcycle's electrical system according to the wiring diagram provided with the product packaging (if available) or consult a professional. Ensure correct polarity (positive to positive, negative to negative) to prevent damage.

5. Operating Instructions

The Myra ALR01 alarm system is controlled via the included remote controls.

5.1 Arming the Alarm

To arm the alarm, press the Lock button on the remote control. You will hear a confirmation sound (e.g., a single chirp) indicating the alarm is armed. The alarm will now be active and sensitive to vibrations or unauthorized movement.

5.2 Disarming the Alarm

To disarm the alarm, press the Unlock button on the remote control. You will hear a confirmation sound (e.g., two chirps) indicating the alarm is disarmed. The alarm will no longer be active.

5.3 Panic/Vehicle Locate Function

If your remote control has a dedicated Bell or Lightning Bolt button, pressing it may activate a panic alarm or a vehicle locate function, causing the siren to sound briefly to help you find your motorcycle in a crowded area or to deter potential threats.

5.4 Remote Control Battery Replacement

The remote controls are powered by small button-cell batteries (e.g., CR2032). If the remote's range decreases or it stops responding, it may be time to replace the battery. Carefully open the remote control casing, replace the old battery with a new one of the same type, ensuring correct polarity, and reassemble the casing.

6. Maintenance

  • Keep the alarm unit and remote controls clean and dry. Wipe with a soft, damp cloth if necessary. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Periodically check the remote control batteries and replace them as needed to ensure reliable operation.
  • Inspect the wiring connections to the alarm unit occasionally to ensure they are secure and free from corrosion or damage.
  • Ensure the alarm unit remains securely mounted to prevent false alarms due to vibrations.
