4. Setup and Installation

The SONGMICS side awning offers two primary installation methods for the receiving post: using a floor flange or direct mounting to the floor.

4.1. Mounting the Awning Cassette

  1. Choose a suitable, stable wall or post for mounting the awning cassette. Ensure the surface can support the weight and tension of the awning.
  2. Mark the drilling points for the wall brackets according to the desired height and position.
  3. Drill holes and insert appropriate wall anchors.
  4. Securely attach the awning cassette to the wall using the provided screws.

4.2. Installing the Receiving Post

Option 1: Floor Flange Installation

  1. Determine the desired extension length of the awning (up to 350 cm) and mark the position for the floor flange.
  2. Screw the floor flange to your floor.
  3. Slide the receiving post into the floor flange. This allows for easy removal of the post when not in use, and the flange can be covered with the provided cap.

Option 2: Direct Floor Mounting

  1. For a more permanent installation, the receiving post can be directly bolted to the floor.
  2. Mark the drilling points for the receiving post base.
  3. Drill holes and secure the receiving post directly to the floor using appropriate screws and anchors.

5. Operating Instructions

The side awning is designed for easy manual operation.

  1. To Extend the Awning: Grasp the handle on the leading edge of the awning. Pull the awning horizontally outwards until it reaches the receiving post.
  2. To Secure the Awning: Once extended, hook the handle onto the designated slot on the receiving post.
  3. Child Lock: The handle features a child lock mechanism for added safety. To engage, push the lock button on the handle. To disengage, pull the lock button up.
  4. To Retract the Awning: Disengage the child lock (if engaged) and unhook the handle from the receiving post. Slowly guide the awning back into its cassette. The internal spring mechanism will retract the fabric smoothly. Do not release the handle abruptly.

6. Maintenance

Proper maintenance will extend the lifespan of your SONGMICS side awning.

  • Fabric Cleaning: The awning fabric is made of 220 g/m² polyester with PVC coating. Clean the fabric with a soft brush or cloth and mild soapy water. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and allow it to air dry completely before retracting. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Frame Maintenance: The steel cassette and posts feature a rust- and corrosion-resistant powder coating. Wipe down metal parts with a damp cloth periodically to remove dirt and debris. Inspect for any signs of rust or damage and address them promptly.
  • Winter Storage: During winter months or prolonged periods of non-use, it is recommended to retract the awning and, if possible, cover the cassette to protect it from harsh weather conditions.
  • Check Fastenings: Periodically check all screws and bolts to ensure they remain tight and secure.
