3. Getting Started
3.1 Battery Installation
The device requires 2 AAA batteries (included). Use the provided mini screwdriver to open the battery compartment located at the rear of the unit. Insert the batteries according to the polarity markings (+/-), then close the compartment and secure it with the screw.
3.2 Power On/Off
- To power on the device, press the READ button once. The LCD display will illuminate.
- The device features an auto-shutdown function after 150 seconds of inactivity to conserve battery life.
- To manually power off, press and hold the READ and UNIT buttons simultaneously for a few seconds.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Using the Tape Measure
The physical tape measure extends up to 16 feet (5 meters). It features both US customary (feet, inches) and metric (centimeters) markings for convenience. The tape has an automatic locking mechanism; simply pull it out to the desired length, and it will stay in place. To retract, press the button on the front of the unit.

4.2 Using the Laser Measure
The laser measure provides quick and accurate distance readings up to 196 feet (60 meters).
- Activate Laser: With the device powered on, press the READ button once. A red laser dot will appear, indicating the measurement target.
- Take Measurement: Press the READ button a second time. The measured distance will instantly appear on the LCD display.
- Adjust Reference Point: The laser can measure from either the front or the back of the device. To change the reference point, press and hold the UNIT button. An icon on the display will indicate the current reference point (front or back).
4.3 Unit Conversion
The device supports multiple units of measurement for the laser function:
- Feet-Inch (e.g., 5' 6")
- Inch (1/16th) (e.g., 66 1/2")
- Inch Decimal (e.g., 66.5")
- Feet Decimal (e.g., 5.5 ft)
- Meter (e.g., 1.69 m)
To cycle through these units, short press the UNIT button while the device is powered on.

5. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the device with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Battery Replacement: Replace batteries when the low battery indicator appears on the display. Always use new AAA alkaline batteries.
- Storage: Store the device in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
6. Troubleshooting
- Device not powering on: Check battery installation and ensure batteries are new and correctly inserted.
- Inaccurate laser readings: Ensure the laser lens is clean. Check the reference point setting (front/back of device). If persistent, refer to the full user manual for calibration instructions.
- Display issues: Low battery may cause dim or flickering display. Replace batteries.
