Setup
1. Attaching the Reel to the Rod
Securely attach the Seaborg 500J electric reel to your fishing rod's reel seat. Ensure it is firmly seated to prevent movement during use. A rod clamp (optional) can be used for additional security.
2. Line Winding
Before first use, wind your preferred fishing line onto the spool. The reel supports PE line (4-400m / 5-300m) and Fluorocarbon line (5-400m / 6-300m). Use the included line threading pin to guide the line through the reel's line guide.

3. Power Connection
Connect the Super Power Cord (included) to the reel's power port and to a compatible 12V DC power source (e.g., a fishing boat battery). Ensure the connection is secure and free from corrosion.

4. Initial Settings
Upon connecting power, the reel's display will activate. Familiarize yourself with the JOG Power Lever, Fall Brake Dial, and the control buttons (MODE, PICKUP, RESET, MEMO) for initial adjustments and line counter calibration.

Operating Instructions
1. Basic Operation
- JOG Power Lever: Use this lever for intuitive and precise control over winding speed and power. Push forward to wind, pull back to slow down or stop.
- One-Push ON Clutch: Engages the clutch with a single push, allowing for quick line release and retrieval.
- Fall Brake Dial: Adjusts the spool's free fall speed, preventing line tangles and allowing for controlled descent of your lure or bait.

Maintenance
1. Cleaning and Washing
The Seaborg 500J features a Washable design. After each use, especially in saltwater, rinse the reel thoroughly with fresh water. Do not submerge the reel. Wipe it dry with a soft cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
2. Magsealed Ball Bearing Care
The reel incorporates Magsealed Ball Bearings for enhanced durability and water resistance. These bearings require minimal maintenance. Do not attempt to disassemble or lubricate Magsealed components yourself, as this can compromise their sealing properties. Refer to authorized service centers for any internal maintenance.
3. General Inspection
Regularly inspect the reel for any signs of wear, damage, or loose parts. Check the handle, drag system, and line guide for smooth operation. Ensure the power cord connection is clean and free of corrosion.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter any issues with your DAIWA Seaborg 500J, please refer to the following common troubleshooting tips:
- Reel not powering on: Check the power cord connection to both the reel and the battery. Ensure the battery is fully charged and providing adequate voltage.
- Line counter inaccurate: Use the Display Correction Function to recalibrate the line counter. Ensure the line is wound correctly and tightly on the spool.
- Winding speed inconsistent: Check for any obstructions in the line guide or spool. Ensure the drag is not set too tight, causing excessive resistance.
- Unusual noises: Stop using the reel immediately and inspect for any foreign objects or loose parts. If the noise persists, contact customer support.
For problems not listed here or if troubleshooting steps do not resolve the issue, please contact DAIWA customer support or an authorized service center.
