2. Important Safety Instructions

4. Setup
4.1 Before First Use
- Remove all packaging materials and labels from the appliance.
- Unwind the power cord and steam supply hose.
4.2 Filling the Water Tank
- Ensure the appliance is unplugged from the power outlet.
- Remove the detachable 1.5-liter water tank from the base unit.
- Fill the water tank with tap water up to the 'MAX' indication. For optimal performance and to prolong the life of your appliance, Philips recommends using demineralized or distilled water, especially in areas with hard water.
- Place the water tank back into the base unit until it clicks into place.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Powering On and Heating Up
- Place the steam generator on a stable, level, and heat-resistant surface.
- Plug the power cord into a grounded wall socket.
- Press the on/off button. The 'iron ready' light will start flashing, indicating the appliance is heating up.
- The iron is ready for use when the 'iron ready' light stops flashing and stays on continuously (approximately 2 minutes).
5.2 Ironing with Steam
- Press and hold the steam trigger under the handle to release continuous steam (120 g/min).
- For a powerful steam boost (400 g/min) to tackle stubborn creases, press the steam trigger twice quickly.
- The SteamGlide Plus soleplate ensures smooth gliding over all ironable fabrics.
5.3 Vertical Steaming
The iron can also be used for vertical steaming of hanging garments, curtains, or delicate fabrics. Hold the iron vertically and press the steam trigger to release steam.
5.4 Automatic Shut-off
For safety and energy saving, the appliance features an automatic shut-off function. If the iron is left unused for a certain period, it will automatically switch off.
6. Maintenance
6.1 Calc-Clean Function
Regular descaling is crucial to maintain optimal steam performance and extend the lifespan of your appliance. The iron is equipped with a Calc-Clean function. Refer to the indicator light on the base unit for when descaling is required.
- Ensure the water tank is filled.
- Place the iron on the Calc-Clean container (if provided, or a suitable heat-resistant container).
- Press and hold the Calc-Clean button for 2 seconds until you hear short beeps.
- The descaling process will take approximately 2 minutes. You will hear beeping sounds and see the Calc-Clean light flashing.
- When the process is complete, the iron will stop beeping and the Calc-Clean light will turn off.
- Wipe the soleplate with a cloth.
6.2 Cleaning and Storage
- Always unplug the appliance and allow it to cool down completely before cleaning.
- Wipe the soleplate with a damp cloth and a non-abrasive cleaner if necessary.
- Clean the exterior of the appliance with a soft, damp cloth.
- Empty the water tank after each use to prevent limescale buildup.
- Store the iron and its base in a dry, safe place. Use the cord storage feature for neatness.
7. Troubleshooting
