4. Setup

Follow these steps to set up your Keystation 88 MK3.

4.1 Connecting to a Computer

1. Connect the included USB cable from the Keystation 88 MK3's USB port to an available USB port on your computer (Mac or PC).
2. The Keystation 88 MK3 is USB class-compliant, meaning no special drivers are required for basic functionality. Your operating system will automatically detect and install the necessary drivers.
3. The unit is powered via the USB connection, eliminating the need for an external power supply.

4.2 Connecting to iOS Devices

To use the Keystation 88 MK3 with an iOS device, you will need an Apple to USB Camera Adapter (sold separately). Connect the USB cable from the Keystation to the adapter, and then connect the adapter to your iOS device.

4.3 Software Installation

5. Operating Instructions

The velocity sensitivity allows for dynamic expression, where playing keys harder results in louder sounds, and softer playing results in quieter sounds.

5.2 Using the Controls

• Volume Fader: Move the fader up or down to control the assigned parameter, typically master volume or an instrument's volume.
• Pitch Bend Wheel: Move the wheel up or down to bend the pitch of notes. This effect is temporary and returns to center when released.
• Modulation Wheel: Move the wheel up or down to add modulation effects, such as vibrato or tremolo, depending on the virtual instrument's settings.
• Octave Up/Down Buttons: Press the 'Octave +' or 'Octave -' buttons to shift the entire keyboard's pitch range up or down in octave increments. The current octave setting is indicated by LED lights.
• Transport Controls (Play, Stop, Record, Fast Forward, Rewind): These buttons send standard MIDI Machine Control (MMC) messages to your DAW, allowing you to control playback and recording functions directly from the keyboard.

5.3 Sustain Pedal Input

Connect a standard 1/4-inch TS sustain pedal (not included) to the Sustain Pedal input on the rear of the Keystation. This allows you to sustain notes, similar to a traditional piano.
