Setup and Initial Use

Unpacking and Inspection

Upon receiving your ROARINGTOP LiPo batteries, carefully inspect the packaging and the batteries for any signs of damage. If any damage is observed, do not use the batteries and contact customer support immediately.

Initial Voltage Check

Before first use, verify that the voltage of each battery is between 3.2V and 4.2V per cell. A LiPo battery checker or a compatible charger can be used for this purpose.

Charging

Always use a LiPo-compatible charger with a balance charging function. Connect the main XT60 plug and the JST-XHR-4P balance plug to the charger. Set the charger to the correct cell count (3S) and capacity (2200mAh). Never charge above 4.2V per cell. It is recommended to charge at 1C (2.2A for a 2200mAh battery) for optimal battery life. Never leave a charging battery unattended.

Connecting to Your RC Model

Ensure your RC model's electronic speed controller (ESC) is compatible with 3S LiPo batteries and has an XT60 connector. Connect the battery's XT60 plug to the ESC. Always ensure correct polarity. If your model requires a different connector, use the provided XT60 to Deans T Plug adapter or a suitable alternative, ensuring it is rated for the battery's discharge current.

Operating Instructions

Discharging and Usage

The battery is designed for high-performance applications in RC planes, helicopters, drones, and FPV systems. Monitor your model's performance and battery voltage during use. Avoid over-discharging the battery below 3.2V per cell, as this can permanently damage the battery and reduce its lifespan. Most ESCs have a low-voltage cutoff (LVC) feature; ensure it is set correctly for 3S LiPo batteries.

Maintenance and Storage

Storage Voltage

For long-term storage, charge or discharge the battery to a storage voltage of 3.8V-3.85V per cell. This significantly extends the battery's lifespan and reduces the risk of swelling or damage.

Storage Environment

Store batteries in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and flammable materials. A LiPo-safe bag or container is highly recommended for storage.

Regular Inspection

Periodically inspect your batteries for any signs of swelling, punctures, or damage to the casing or wires. Discontinue use immediately if any damage is observed.

Safety Warnings

Lithium Polymer (LiPo) batteries are powerful and can be dangerous if not handled correctly. Failure to follow these safety guidelines can result in fire, personal injury, and property damage.

  • Never leave LiPo batteries unattended while charging.
  • Always charge LiPo batteries on a non-flammable surface and away from flammable materials.
  • Use only chargers specifically designed for LiPo batteries and ensure the charger settings match the battery's specifications (voltage, cell count, capacity).
  • Do not overcharge (above 4.2V per cell) or over-discharge (below 3.2V per cell) the battery.
  • Never puncture, disassemble, short-circuit, or modify the battery.
  • Do not expose batteries to extreme temperatures (hot or cold), direct sunlight, or moisture.
  • If a battery swells, smokes, or catches fire, immediately move it to a safe, non-flammable area (e.g., outdoors on concrete) and use a LiPo-safe bag or sand to extinguish. Do not use water.
  • Keep batteries out of reach of children and pets.
  • Properly dispose of damaged or old batteries according to local regulations. Never dispose of LiPo batteries in regular trash.

Troubleshooting

  • Battery not charging: Ensure all connections are secure, the charger is set correctly for LiPo batteries (3S, 2200mAh), and the battery is not severely over-discharged.
  • Reduced runtime: This can indicate an aging battery, over-discharging, or an issue with the RC model's power system. Check battery voltage before and after use.
  • Battery swelling: Immediately discontinue use and safely dispose of the battery. Swelling indicates internal damage, often due to overcharging, over-discharging, or physical impact.
  • Battery gets hot during use/charge: Some warmth is normal, but excessive heat indicates a problem. Stop use/charging immediately. This could be due to over-current draw, internal short, or charger malfunction.
