Setup and Assembly

Your MELLCOM Gas Lawn Mower requires minimal assembly. Follow these steps to prepare your mower for first use.

1. Unpacking: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Check for any damage during transit.
2. Handlebar Assembly: Unfold the handlebars and secure them in the upright position using the provided knobs or levers. Ensure they are locked firmly in place.
3. Grass Catcher Assembly: Assemble the grass catcher bag if it came disassembled. Attach it securely to the rear discharge opening of the mower.
4. Fluid Filling: Before starting, ensure proper fluid levels.
   • Engine Oil: Add 0.4L of 10W-40 four-stroke engine oil to the engine oil tank. Do not exceed 0.4L to prevent oil spraying.
   • Fuel: Add more than 92# unleaded gasoline to the gasoline tank. Do not use mixed gasoline; the mower uses separate gasoline and motor oil.

Operating Instructions

Starting the Engine (Electric Start)

1. Ensure the fuel tank and oil reservoir are filled to the correct levels.
2. Press the oil bubble (primer bulb) at least 3 times to prime the carburetor.
3. Hold the brake lever (operator presence control bar) against the handle. This must be held for the engine to start and run.
4. Insert the key into the electric start ignition. Turn the key clockwise until the engine starts.
5. If the electric start is unsuccessful, pull the starting rope firmly and steadily until the engine starts.

Adjusting Cutting Height

The MELLCOM Gas Lawn Mower features a one-lever adjustment system for cutting height. There are 8 adjustable height grades, ranging from 0.98 inches to 2.95 inches.

1. Turn off the engine and ensure the blade has stopped completely before adjusting the height.
2. Locate the height adjustment lever, typically near one of the wheels.
3. Pull the lever outwards and move it to the desired height setting. Ensure all wheels are set to the same height.

Mowing Techniques

• For best results, mow when the grass is dry.
• Do not remove more than one-third of the grass blade length at a time.
• Overlap cutting swaths slightly to ensure even coverage.
• When using the grass catcher, empty it regularly to maintain optimal performance. The catcher has a 16-gallon (60L) volume.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your MELLCOM Gas Lawn Mower.

• Engine Oil Check: Check the engine oil level before each use. Top up if necessary with recommended 10W-40 four-stroke engine oil. Change oil after the first 5 hours of use, then every 25 hours or annually.
• Air Filter: Clean the air filter regularly, especially in dusty conditions. Replace if damaged.
• Spark Plug: Inspect the spark plug annually. Clean or replace as needed.
• Blade Maintenance: Inspect the cutting blade for sharpness and damage regularly. Sharpen or replace the blade as necessary. Always disconnect the spark plug wire before handling the blade.
