Unpacking and Inspection

Carefully remove the generator from its packaging. Inspect for any shipping damage. Ensure all components listed in the packing list are present. If any damage or missing parts are found, contact your dealer immediately.

Adding Engine Oil

The generator is shipped without engine oil. It is critical to add the correct amount and type of oil before first use.

1. Place the generator on a level surface.
2. Remove the oil filler cap/dipstick.
3. Add approximately 0.40 US qt (0.38 L) of 10W-30 API service category SJ or later engine oil. Do not overfill.
4. Reinstall the oil filler cap/dipstick securely.

Regularly check the oil level before each use.

Adding Fuel

Use unleaded gasoline with a pump octane rating of 86 or higher. Do not use E85 or gasoline containing more than 10% ethanol.

1. Ensure the engine is off and cool.
2. Move the generator to a well-ventilated outdoor area for refueling.
3. Remove the fuel cap.
4. Fill the fuel tank slowly, up to the red level gauge. The tank capacity is 0.95 US gallons (3.6 liters).
5. Securely replace the fuel cap.

Placement and Ventilation

Always operate the generator outdoors in a well-ventilated area. Position the generator so that exhaust fumes are directed away from people and buildings. Maintain at least 3 feet (1 meter) of clearance around the generator.

Honda My Generator App and Bluetooth

The EU2200ITAN features Bluetooth connectivity for remote operation and monitoring via the Honda My Generator smartphone app.

1. Download the "Honda My Generator" app from your device's app store.
2. Follow the in-app instructions to pair your smartphone with the generator. The Bluetooth module is located on the control panel.
3. The app allows for wireless start/stop, operation monitoring, and service reminders.

Starting the Engine

1. Ensure the generator is on a level surface and away from any obstructions.
2. Turn the fuel cap vent lever to the "ON" position.
3. Turn the engine switch to the "ON" position.
4. If the engine is cold, move the choke lever to the "CHOKE" position.
5. Pull the starter grip lightly until resistance is felt, then pull briskly. Repeat if necessary.
6. Once the engine starts, gradually move the choke lever to the "RUN" position (if used).

Connecting Electrical Devices

After the engine is running, you can connect your electrical devices. The generator provides 120V AC power.

1. Ensure the total wattage of connected devices does not exceed the generator's running wattage (1800W) or maximum wattage (2200W).
2. Plug devices into the AC outlets.
3. If an overload occurs, the overload alarm indicator will illuminate, and power output will stop. Reduce the load and reset the circuit protector.

Eco-Throttle System

The Eco-Throttle switch allows the engine speed to automatically adjust to the electrical load, improving fuel efficiency and reducing noise. For maximum power or when starting devices with high initial draw, turn the Eco-Throttle switch to "OFF". For lighter loads, set it to "ON".

Parallel Operation

Two Honda EU2200ITAN generators can be connected in parallel using an optional parallel cable kit to double the available power output. Refer to the parallel kit's instructions for detailed setup.

Stopping the Engine

1. Disconnect all electrical devices.
2. Turn the engine switch to the "OFF" position.
3. Turn the fuel cap vent lever to the "OFF" position.

Storage

For long-term storage (over 1 month), proper preparation is necessary to prevent fuel degradation and engine damage.

1. Drain the fuel tank and carburetor, or use a fuel stabilizer.
2. Change the engine oil.
3. Remove the spark plug and pour a tablespoon of clean engine oil into the cylinder. Rotate the engine a few times, then reinstall the spark plug.
4. Clean the generator exterior.
5. Store in a clean, dry, well-ventilated area.

Engine Will Not Start

• No Fuel: Check fuel level and add fresh gasoline if needed. Ensure fuel cap vent is "ON".
• No Oil: Check engine oil level. The low oil alert system will prevent starting if oil is insufficient.
• Engine Switch OFF: Ensure the engine switch is in the "ON" position.
• Choke Position: For a cold engine, ensure the choke is in the "CHOKE" position.
• Spark Plug: Inspect the spark plug for fouling or damage.

No Power Output

• Circuit Protector Tripped: Check the AC circuit protector. If tripped, reduce the load and reset it.
• Overload: The generator may be overloaded. Reduce the number of connected devices.
• Eco-Throttle: Ensure Eco-Throttle is not causing issues with high starting loads. Try turning it "OFF".

CO-Minder Alarm / Shutdown

• The CO-Minder system detects high levels of carbon monoxide. If it shuts down the generator, immediately move the generator to a different, well-ventilated outdoor location.
• Allow the generator to cool down and ventilate for at least 15 minutes before attempting to restart.
• Never operate the generator indoors or in partially enclosed spaces.
