2.1 Unboxing and Assembly
The SUUNTO Smart Heart Rate Belt comes with the sensor module and the chest strap. Follow these steps to assemble and prepare your device:
- Snap the Suunto Smart module firmly into the chest strap. Ensure the module is securely attached to the two metal studs on the strap.
- Adjust the length of the belt as needed. The strap is adjustable to ensure a snug and comfortable fit around your chest.
- Wet the electrode surfaces with water or contact gel. The two black electrode areas on the inside of the strap need to be moistened to ensure proper heart rate signal transmission.
- Place the strap on your body so that it fits snugly, with the Suunto logo facing upwards. The sensor module should be centered on your chest, just below your pectoral muscles.

3. Operating Instructions
3.1 Pairing with Devices
The SUUNTO Smart Heart Rate Belt uses Bluetooth Smart technology to connect with compatible devices. To pair your sensor:
- Ensure the heart rate belt is worn correctly and the electrodes are moistened.
- Activate Bluetooth on your compatible device (e.g., smartphone, sports watch, fitness app).
- Search for new devices in your device's Bluetooth settings or within your sports application. The SUUNTO Smart Heart Rate Belt should appear as an available device.
- Select the SUUNTO Smart Heart Rate Belt to initiate pairing. Follow any on-screen prompts to complete the connection.
The belt is compatible with a wide range of Bluetooth devices, including Android, iOS, and Watch OS devices, as well as Suunto 3, 5, 9, Spartan, Ambit3, and Traverse watches.
3.2 Heart Rate Measurement and Internal Memory
Once paired, the belt will begin transmitting accurate heart rate data to your connected device. The sensor measures both heart rate and heart rate variability (R-R variability).

The SUUNTO Smart Heart Rate Belt features an internal memory that stores heart rate data when your watch or paired device is out of range. This is particularly useful for activities where wearing a watch is inconvenient, such as team sports or swimming. The memory can store up to 3.5 hours of measurement data at 120 bpm.

3.3 Suitable Sports and Water Resistance
The SUUNTO Smart Heart Rate Belt is designed for a wide range of sports, including:
- Running
- Cycling
- Swimming
- Team Sports
- Winter Sports
- Marathon
The belt is waterproof with a resistance level of 30m, making it suitable for swimming. It is also sweat and dust resistant, ensuring durability in various environments.

4. Maintenance
4.1 Cleaning Instructions
To ensure the longevity and accurate performance of your SUUNTO Smart Heart Rate Belt, follow these cleaning guidelines:
- Rinse after each use: After every workout, rinse the chest strap with fresh water to remove sweat and salt residue.
- Machine wash: The chest strap can be machine washed at 30°C (86°F) after 2-3 uses. Important: Remove the smart module before washing the strap.
- Do not use fabric softener: Fabric softeners can degrade the elastic material and affect the conductivity of the electrodes.
- Air dry: Allow the strap to air dry completely before storing. Do not tumble dry or iron.
4.2 Battery Life and Replacement
The SUUNTO Smart Heart Rate Belt offers an impressive battery life of up to 500 hours. When the battery needs replacement, it can be easily changed. Refer to the "How to use HR Belt" video (Video 2) for detailed instructions on battery replacement.

5. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your SUUNTO Smart Heart Rate Belt, try the following troubleshooting steps:
- No Heart Rate Reading or Inconsistent Data:
- Ensure the electrode surfaces on the strap are adequately moistened with water or contact gel. Dry electrodes can lead to poor signal transmission.
- Verify the sensor module is firmly snapped into the chest strap.
- Check that the belt is worn snugly and correctly positioned on your chest, with the Suunto logo facing upwards.
- Confirm that Bluetooth is enabled on your receiving device and that the belt is successfully paired. Try unpairing and re-pairing the device if connection issues persist.
- Ensure your receiving device (e.g., smartphone, watch) is within Bluetooth range of the heart rate belt.
- Check the battery level of the heart rate belt. A low battery can cause intermittent or no readings. Replace the battery if necessary.
- Issues with Swimming Data:
- While the belt is waterproof, water can sometimes interfere with Bluetooth signal transmission. The internal memory is designed to store data during swimming, which can then be synced once out of the water and back in range of your device.
- Ensure the electrodes are thoroughly wet before entering the water.
- Difficulty Pairing:
- Turn off and on the Bluetooth on your receiving device.
- Restart your receiving device.
- Ensure no other Bluetooth devices are interfering with the connection.
- Make sure the heart rate belt is active (worn and electrodes wet) when attempting to pair.
