General Safety Rules:
- Always wear eye protection, hearing protection, and heavy-duty gloves when operating the pole saw.
- Wear appropriate clothing, including long pants and non-slip footwear. Avoid loose clothing or jewelry that could get caught in moving parts.

- Do not operate the pole saw in wet conditions or in the presence of flammable liquids or gases.
- Inspect the work area for hidden wires, power lines, or other obstructions before starting.
- Ensure the battery is fully charged before use.
- Never operate the pole saw with one hand. Always maintain a firm grip with both hands.
- Do not overreach. Maintain proper footing and balance at all times.
- Disconnect the battery pack before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing the tool.
- Store the pole saw indoors in a dry, locked place out of the reach of children.

4. Setup and Assembly
4.1 Charging the Battery
- Insert the battery pack (LB2X4020) into the charger. Ensure it is fully seated.
- Plug the charger into a standard electrical outlet.
- The charging indicator light on the charger will illuminate, indicating the battery is charging.
- A full charge typically takes approximately 2-3 hours for the 4.0Ah battery. Refer to the charger's specific instructions for detailed charging times and indicator light meanings.
- Once charging is complete, unplug the charger and remove the battery pack.

4.2 Assembling the Pole Saw
The pole saw consists of three main sections: the saw head, the mid-extension pole, and the handle section. These sections connect using secure locking collars.
- Connect the Mid-Extension Pole to the Saw Head: Align the arrow on the mid-extension pole with the arrow on the saw head. Push the sections together until they click into place. Twist the locking collar clockwise to secure the connection.
- Connect the Handle Section to the Mid-Extension Pole: Align the arrow on the handle section with the arrow on the mid-extension pole. Push the sections together until they click into place. Twist the locking collar clockwise to secure the connection.
- Optional: For shorter reach, omit the mid-extension pole. Connect the saw head directly to the handle section following the same alignment and locking procedure.

4.3 Adding Bar and Chain Oil
The pole saw does not have an automatic oiling system. Manual oiling is required to ensure proper chain lubrication and extend the life of the bar and chain.
- Locate the oil reservoir cap on the saw head.
- Unscrew the cap and carefully fill the reservoir with bar and chain oil (or vegetable oil for live trees, as recommended by some users). Do not overfill.
- Replace the cap securely.
- Apply a few drops of oil to the chain before each use and periodically during operation (approximately every 15-20 cuts) to maintain lubrication.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Pre-Operation Checklist
- Ensure all pole sections are securely connected and locking collars are tightened.
- Check the chain tension. The chain should be snug but still able to be pulled around the bar by hand. Adjust with the provided Allen wrench if necessary.
- Verify the oil reservoir is adequately filled.
- Confirm the battery is fully charged and securely inserted into the handle.
- Wear all recommended personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Clear the work area of any obstacles or bystanders.
5.2 Starting and Stopping the Pole Saw
- To Start: Hold the pole saw firmly with both hands. Depress the safety lock-off switch with your thumb, then squeeze the trigger switch. The chain will begin to move.
- To Stop: Release the trigger switch. The chain will stop.
- Always release the trigger and allow the chain to stop completely before lowering the saw or moving to a new cutting position.
5.3 Cutting Techniques
Always plan your cuts carefully to avoid falling branches hitting you or others.
- Undercut First: For larger branches (over 2 inches in diameter), make a small undercut (about 1/3 of the branch thickness) on the underside of the branch first. This prevents the branch from splitting or peeling bark when the main cut is made.
- Main Cut: Position the saw on top of the branch, slightly further out from the undercut. Allow the saw's weight to do the work. Do not force the saw.
- Support the Saw: Use the grooved area of the saw body just below the bar against the limb for stability during the cut.
- Avoid Pinching: Be aware of the branch's weight and direction of fall to prevent the saw bar from getting pinched. If the saw gets pinched, release the trigger, remove the battery, and carefully free the saw.
- Clear Debris: Regularly clear cut branches and debris from the work area to maintain a safe environment.

6. Maintenance
6.1 General Cleaning
- After each use, remove the battery pack.
- Use a stiff brush or compressed air to clean sawdust and debris from the saw head, chain, and bar.
- Wipe down all surfaces with a damp cloth. Do not use solvents or harsh chemicals.
6.2 Chain and Bar Maintenance
- Oiling: As mentioned in Section 4.3, manually apply bar and chain oil frequently during operation.
- Chain Tension: Check chain tension regularly. A loose chain can derail, and a too-tight chain can cause excessive wear. Adjust using the provided Allen wrench.
- Chain Sharpening: A dull chain will not cut efficiently and can cause kickback. Sharpen the chain as needed or have it professionally sharpened. Refer to the chain manufacturer's guidelines for proper sharpening angles.
- Bar Maintenance: Periodically remove the bar and clean the guide groove. Flip the bar over regularly to ensure even wear.
6.3 Battery and Charger Storage
- Store battery packs in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Do not store battery packs in a discharged state for extended periods. Charge them periodically if not in use.
- Store the charger in a dry location.
