2. Setup and Installation

2.1 Package Contents

Before beginning installation, please ensure all components are present:

  • AUTO-VOX V5PRO Mirror Dash Cam Unit
  • Rear Camera
  • GPS Module
  • Hardwire Kit (for ACC and Constant Power connection)
  • Mirror Mount Adapters (various types)

2.2 Installation Steps

The V5PRO is designed for a clean, integrated look by replacing your existing rearview mirror. It connects directly to your car's fuse box using the included hardwire kit.

  1. Mounting the Mirror Unit: Remove your original rearview mirror. Select the appropriate adapter from the provided kit that matches your vehicle's mirror mount. Securely attach the V5PRO mirror unit to the vehicle's windshield mount. The V5PRO comes with 4 different adapters to fit 90% of cars. If these do not fit, please contact AUTO-VOX support for additional adapters.
  2. Connecting the Hardwire Kit: The hardwire kit connects the V5PRO to your car's fuse box, allowing for automatic power-on and parking monitoring without occupying the cigarette lighter socket. Ensure proper connection to ACC (Accessory) power, Constant power, and Ground.
  3. Installing the Rear Camera: Mount the rear camera at the back of your vehicle, typically above the license plate or inside the rear window. Route the camera cable to the main mirror unit.
  4. Connecting the GPS Module: Plug the GPS module into the designated port on the main mirror unit. Position the GPS module in an area with a clear view of the sky for optimal signal reception.
  5. Optional Reverse Light Connection: For automatic display of parking lines when reversing, connect the rear camera's reverse trigger wire to your vehicle's reverse light power wire. Alternatively, parking lines can be activated by swiping the monitor without this connection.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Power On/Off

The V5PRO system automatically powers on when the vehicle's ignition is turned on, thanks to its hardwired connection. It will power off automatically when the ignition is turned off.

3.2 Display and View Modes

The 9.4-inch full laminated touch screen provides a clear and responsive interface.

  • Streaming Media View: The V5PRO utilizes streaming media technology to provide a wide, unobstructed view of the road behind, significantly reducing blind spots compared to traditional rearview mirrors. This view covers approximately five lanes.
  • Anti-Glare and Night Vision: The full laminated screen and advanced sensor technology effectively eliminate glare from strong sunlight and prevent overexposure from headlights at night, ensuring a clear image in various lighting conditions.

3.3 Recording Functionality

The V5PRO records in 1080p resolution, capturing clear details of the road ahead and behind.

  • Continuous Recording: The system records continuously when powered on, overwriting the oldest files when the memory card is full.
  • Loop Recording: Ensures that recording continues without interruption by automatically deleting the oldest files to make space for new ones.
  • G-Sensor (Collision Detection): In the event of a sudden impact or collision, the built-in G-sensor automatically locks the current video segment, preventing it from being overwritten.

3.4 Parking Monitoring

The V5PRO offers 24-hour parking monitoring to protect your vehicle even when parked.

  • When the vehicle is parked and the system detects a collision (via the G-sensor), both the front and rear cameras will automatically begin recording.
  • After locking a 30-second video clip of the event, the system will power off to conserve the car's battery.

4. Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your AUTO-VOX V5PRO system.

  • Cleaning the Screen and Lenses: Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently wipe the screen and camera lenses. For stubborn smudges, slightly dampen the cloth with water or a screen-safe cleaner. Avoid abrasive materials or harsh chemicals.
  • Micro SD Card: Regularly format the micro SD card (at least once a month) within the device's settings to prevent data corruption and ensure smooth recording. Use a high-quality, high-speed micro SD card (Class 10 or higher, U3 recommended).
  • Firmware Updates: Check the AUTO-VOX official website periodically for any available firmware updates. Keeping the firmware updated can improve performance and add new features.
  • Temperature: Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures for prolonged periods. While designed for automotive use, prolonged exposure to direct sunlight in a parked car can affect its lifespan.

5. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your V5PRO system, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Device does not power on:
    • Ensure the hardwire kit is correctly connected to the ACC, Constant power, and Ground in your vehicle's fuse box.
    • Check the fuse in the hardwire kit and the vehicle's fuse box. Replace if blown.
  • Poor image quality / Glare / Overexposure:
    • Ensure the camera lenses are clean and free from dirt or smudges.
    • Adjust the screen brightness and exposure settings in the device menu.
    • Verify the camera is properly aligned and not obstructed.
  • Micro SD card error / Recording issues:
    • Format the micro SD card within the device's settings.
    • Ensure you are using a genuine Class 10, U3 or higher speed micro SD card.
    • Try a different micro SD card to rule out card malfunction.
  • Parking monitoring not working:
    • Ensure the hardwire kit is correctly installed and providing constant power to the device.
    • Check the G-sensor sensitivity settings in the menu; it might be set too low.
  • Incorrect fitment with mirror mount:
