4. Setup and Installation

4.1 Preparing the MicroSD Card

Before first use, a microSD card is required (not included). The dash cam supports Class 10 microSD cards with a capacity of 32GB to 128GB.

  1. Insert the microSD card into your computer.
  2. Format the microSD card using your computer's file system utility. Refer to your computer's operating system instructions for formatting.
  3. Once formatted, insert the microSD card into the dash cam's card slot.

Note: Formatting the card regularly (e.g., monthly) is recommended to maintain optimal recording performance and prevent data corruption.

4.2 Mounting the Front Dash Cam

  1. Clean the area on your front windshield where you intend to mount the dash cam. Ensure the surface is dry and free of dust or grease.
  2. Attach the suction cup mount to the dash cam.
  3. Press the suction cup firmly against the cleaned windshield and engage the locking mechanism to secure it.
  4. Adjust the angle of the dash cam to ensure a clear view of the road ahead, avoiding obstruction from the rearview mirror or other vehicle components.

4.3 Installing the Rear Camera

The rear camera provides a 1080p view of the vehicle's rear. For optimal functionality, including parking guide lines, specific wiring is required.

  1. Determine the best mounting location for the rear camera, typically on the rear windshield or near the license plate.
  2. Connect the rear camera cable to the main dash cam unit.
  3. Route the cable discreetly along the vehicle's interior trim using the provided spudger tool to tuck it away.
  4. For parking guide lines to activate automatically when reversing, connect the red wire from the rear camera cable to the live wire of your vehicle's reversing lamp. Professional installation is recommended for this step if you are unsure.

4.4 Power Connection

  1. Connect the car charger to the dash cam's power input port.
  2. Plug the other end of the car charger into your vehicle's cigarette lighter socket.
  3. The dash cam will typically power on and begin recording automatically when the vehicle's ignition is turned on.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Basic Operation

  • Power On/Off: The dash cam powers on automatically with the car ignition. To manually power on/off, press and hold the power button.
  • Recording: Recording starts automatically when the device powers on. A flashing indicator (usually red dot) on the screen confirms recording is active.
  • Menu Navigation: Use the menu buttons (usually labeled 'M' or with arrow icons) to navigate through settings and options on the 3.2" LCD screen.
  • Playback: Access recorded videos and photos through the playback menu.

5.2 Key Features Explained

Loop Recording

The dash cam continuously records video in short segments (e.g., 1, 3, or 5 minutes). When the microSD card reaches its full capacity, the oldest unlocked video segments are automatically overwritten by new recordings. This ensures that recording never stops due to a full card.

G-Sensor (Emergency Video Lock)

The built-in G-sensor detects sudden movements or impacts, such as during a collision. When triggered, it automatically locks the current video segment, preventing it from being overwritten by loop recording. These locked files are crucial for insurance claims and accident evidence.

Parking Monitor

When enabled and the dash cam is continuously powered (e.g., via a hardwire kit or power bank), the parking monitor feature detects impacts or motion around your parked vehicle. It will automatically start recording to capture any incidents while your car is unattended.

Night Vision and WDR (Wide Dynamic Range)

The IIWEY N1 is equipped with 6 infrared lights, a large F1.8 aperture, and a Sony image sensor to enhance recording quality in low-light conditions. WDR technology further optimizes video exposure, balancing bright and dark areas to produce clearer and more detailed footage, especially at night or in tunnels.

6. Maintenance

  • MicroSD Card: Regularly format the microSD card (e.g., once a month) to prevent data corruption and ensure smooth operation.
  • Lens Cleaning: Keep the front and rear camera lenses clean using a soft, lint-free cloth. Avoid abrasive materials that could scratch the lens.
  • Device Cleaning: Wipe the dash cam body with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Do not use chemical cleaners.
  • Temperature: Avoid exposing the dash cam to extreme temperatures for extended periods. Remove it from the windshield if parking in direct sunlight during hot weather.
