1. Introduction and Overview
The Xbox Core Wireless Controller in Carbon Black offers a modernized design with sculpted surfaces and refined geometry, providing enhanced comfort and effortless control during gameplay. This controller is compatible with Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows 10/11 PCs, Android devices, and will support iOS in the future. It features a hybrid D-pad, textured grips on the triggers, bumpers, and back-case for improved handling. A dedicated Share button allows for seamless capture and sharing of screenshots and game recordings. The controller supports up to 40 hours of battery life with AA batteries (included) and can also be connected via USB-C for direct plug-and-play.

2. Setup
2.1 Battery Installation
Your Xbox Core Wireless Controller uses two AA batteries. To install them:
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the controller.
- Press the tab on the cover and pull it downwards to remove.
- Insert two AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+ and - ends).
- Replace the battery compartment cover by sliding it back into place until it clicks.

2.2 Wireless Pairing
The controller can be paired wirelessly with compatible devices using Xbox Wireless or Bluetooth technology.
2.2.1 Pairing with Xbox Consoles (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One)
- Turn on your Xbox console.
- Press and hold the Xbox button on your controller to turn it on.
- Press the Pair button on your console (usually a small circular button near the USB ports).
- Press and hold the Pair button on the top edge of your controller until the Xbox button flashes rapidly.
- Once the Xbox button on the controller becomes solid, it is successfully paired.
2.2.2 Pairing with Windows 10/11 PCs, Android, and iOS Devices (Bluetooth)
- Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your device.
- Press and hold the Xbox button on your controller to turn it on.
- Press and hold the Pair button on the top edge of your controller until the Xbox button flashes rapidly.
- On your device, go to Bluetooth settings and select 'Xbox Wireless Controller' from the list of available devices.
- Follow any on-screen prompts to complete the pairing process.

2.3 Wired Connection
For a direct connection or to play without batteries, connect the controller to your console or PC using a USB-C cable (sold separately). The USB-C port is located on the top edge of the controller.
3. Operating the Controller
3.1 Basic Controls
The controller features standard Xbox button layouts:
- A, B, X, Y Buttons: Colored action buttons for in-game commands.
- D-pad: Hybrid directional pad for precise input.
- Left and Right Thumbsticks: For movement and camera control.
- Left and Right Triggers (LT, RT): Analog triggers for actions like acceleration or firing.
- Left and Right Bumpers (LB, RB): Digital buttons for quick actions.
- View Button: (Two squares icon) Provides additional information or changes views in games.
- Menu Button: (Three lines icon) Accesses in-game menus or system options.
3.2 Share Button
The dedicated Share button (up arrow icon) located below the Xbox button allows you to:
- Single Press: Capture a screenshot.
- Press and Hold: Record the last 30 seconds of gameplay.

3.3 3.5mm Audio Jack
Plug any compatible headset into the 3.5mm audio jack located at the bottom of the controller for in-game audio and chat.
3.4 Custom Button Mapping (Xbox Accessories App)
You can customize button mapping and create custom controller profiles using the Xbox Accessories app, available on Xbox consoles and Windows 10/11 PCs. This allows you to remap buttons, swap sticks and triggers, and configure controller vibration to suit your preferences.

4. Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your controller:
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the controller. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Storage: Store the controller in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Battery Care: Remove batteries if the controller will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.
5. Troubleshooting
5.1 Connectivity Issues
- Controller not connecting: Ensure batteries are properly installed and charged. Try re-pairing the controller with your device (refer to Section 2.2).
- Intermittent disconnections: Ensure no obstructions are between the controller and your device. Update controller firmware via the Xbox Accessories app. Try connecting via USB-C cable to rule out wireless interference.
5.2 Button or Thumbstick Issues
- Sticky buttons: Gently clean around the buttons with a cotton swab lightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol.
- Thumbstick drift: This can sometimes be resolved by updating the controller firmware. If the issue persists, it may indicate a hardware problem.
5.3 Firmware Updates
Regularly check for and install firmware updates for your controller using the Xbox Accessories app. Updates can improve performance, add new features, and resolve known issues.
