5. Setup

5.1 Unpacking and Placement

• Carefully remove the scale from its packaging.
• Place the scale on a firm, level, and stable surface, free from vibrations or drafts.
• Ensure adequate space around the scale for proper operation and ventilation.

5.2 Power Connection

• Connect the provided power cable to the scale's power input port and then to a suitable electrical outlet.
• The scale can operate directly from AC power.

5.3 Battery Installation (Optional)

For portable use, a 6V 4AH Sealed Lead Acid Rechargeable Battery (not included) can be installed. 6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Power On/Off

• To power on the scale, press the [ON/OFF] button.
• To power off the scale, press and hold the [ON/OFF] button until the display turns off.

6.2 Zeroing and Tare Function

• Zeroing: If the display does not show zero when nothing is on the pan, press the [ZERO] button to reset it.
• Tare: To weigh items in a container, first place the empty container on the weighing pan. Press the [TARE] button. The display will reset to zero, effectively subtracting the container's weight. Then, add your items to the container for accurate net weight measurement.

6.3 Unit Conversion (g/kg/lb)

• To switch between weighing units (grams, kilograms, pounds), press and hold the [FUNCTION] key. The display will cycle through the available units. Release the button when the desired unit is shown.

6.4 Counting Function

• Sampling: Place a known number of samples (e.g., 10, 20, 50, 100 pieces) on the weighing pan.
• Input the number of samples using the numeric keypad.
• Press the [SAMPLE] button. The scale will calculate the average unit weight.
• Once sampled, you can add more items, and the scale will display the total quantity in the 'Quantity' window.
• Note: It is recommended to count items with a piece weight heavier than half of the readability of the scale for optimal accuracy.

6.5 Weight and Quantity Alarm Setting

• Entering Alarm Mode: Press and hold the [.] key, then press [5] to enter the alarm mode setting.
• Choosing Alarm Mode: Use the [M+] key to cycle through alarm modes:
• "no": Alarm off.
• "in": Alarm when in the set range.
• "out": Alarm when out of the set range.
• "up": Alarm when exceeding the set value.
• Press [TARE] to confirm the chosen mode.
• Setting Alarm Value: Press the [ALARM SET] key. Input the desired alarm value (weight or quantity) using the numeric keypad.
• Press [TARE] to confirm the alarm value. The scale will now sound an alarm when the set condition is met.

6.6 RS232 Interface

• The RS232 interface allows for serial data exchange between the scale and a computer or printer.
• Connect the RS232 cable (not included) to the port on the back of the scale and to your device.
• Note: The balance uses a null modem serial connection (NOT straight through TX/RX switched). Specific computer applications (e.g., hyper terminal or STC ISP) may be required for data output.
