Ensure you have all listed tools before beginning installation.

Installation Types:

Refer to the included template for precise hole placement for each installation method.

  1. Regular Pull Side Installation: The closer mounts to the door, and the arm mounts to the frame. This method is ideal for interior doors and offers strong closing force.
  2. Parallel Push Side Installation: The closer mounts to the door, and the arm mounts under the frame. The arm is tucked into the underside of the frame for a cleaner appearance.
  3. Top Jamb Push Side Installation: The closer mounts to the frame, and the arm mounts to the door. This is common for aluminum and glass doors and keeps the door face uncluttered.

Operating Instructions: Adjustments

The FS-7600 HOS features independent valves for precise control over door closing speed and latching. Adjustments should be made incrementally to achieve the desired door operation.

Adjustment Points:

  • Latching Speed Adjustment (15° to 0°): Controls the final closing speed of the door, preventing slamming. Turn the valve clockwise for slower closing, counter-clockwise for faster closing.
  • Closing Speed Adjustment (180° to 15°): Controls the main swing closing speed of the door. Turn the valve clockwise for slower closing, counter-clockwise for faster closing.
  • Backcheck Adjustment: Protects the door and frame from damage by providing resistance if the door is opened too far or too quickly. Adjust to strengthen or reduce resistance.
  • Spring Power Adjustment: Adjusts the opening force and closing power of the door closer, from Size 1 to 6.

Carefully adjust each setting to achieve optimal door operation.

Hold-Open Feature:

The FS-7600 HOS includes a hold-open feature, allowing the door to remain open at a desired angle. This is beneficial for high-traffic areas, improving traffic flow and supporting wheelchair and mobility access. It also reduces wear on doors and hardware by preventing constant swinging shut.

Image explaining the benefits of the hold-open feature: holds doors securely open, improves traffic flow, ideal for busy areas, prevents constant swinging, supports accessibility, and reduces wear. A warning states 'NOT TO BE USED ON FIRE DOORS'.

The hold-open feature is designed for convenience in busy environments, but should not be used on fire doors.

Maintenance

The FORTSTRONG FS-7600 HOS door closer is designed for durability and requires minimal maintenance. Regular inspection is recommended to ensure optimal performance.

  • Periodic Inspection: Annually inspect all mounting screws and connections to ensure they are tight.
  • Cleaning: Wipe the door closer body and arm with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust and grime. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
  • Lubrication: The internal hydraulic mechanism is factory-sealed and does not require lubrication. Do not attempt to open the closer body.
  • Adjustment Check: Periodically check the closing and latching speeds to ensure they meet desired performance. Readjust if necessary.
